DAY 10 AF and bored to death

If your child came to you and said, "I'm bored", would you say, "well there is a 12 pack in the fridge you should get drunk." Or would you say, "read a book, or find something useful to do, or go to bed and get up early and workout tomorrow."?
thanks everyone... I will change it to "hmm what should i do today?" I need to find out who "sober caper" is .. i know "drunk caper" and she sucks !!!!!!caper

DAY 10 AF and bored to death
Great thread, all. Thank you, I'm wondering the same thing today. I just need a kick in the ass to do all the work that's been waiting around while I let the house go to hell in a handbasket. Not to mention the garden, my body, etc. Problem is it seems all like drudgery, but you're right SC, its no reason to drink, that just makes everything so much worse.
By the way, this is a little hijack and I apologize, but I found kombucha helped my craving. Its sweet and sparkling, and really good for you. You can find it in healthfood stores next to the expensive special sodas and stuff. Or make it yourself.

DAY 10 AF and bored to death
Caper, I'm wondering for me at least if my boredom is tied to depression. I just don't feel like doing a lot. I think of things and then can't seem to move forward and retreat back into being reclusive. I may even go to my doctor for a checkup -- I'm sure my hormones are out of whack. I think I'm probably a candidate for some anti ds, but I just hate to take stuff. Anyway, you might kind of watch for that. I live in a somewhat remote area which I think is adding to my mental outlook - really takes a lot of driving for me to do almost anything - I'm starting to think it's just an excuse and that I probably have some low-level depression.
Bruun - thanks for the Kombucha tip.

DAY 10 AF and bored to death
caper564;1220897 wrote: I don't mean to complain i am very happy about being on day 10 BUT.. OMG its so boring.. what do sober people do all night??? watch TV and clean the kitchen.. UGHHHH .. i go to bed when the kids do because I can't stand the thought of sitting around being bored to death.. I have knit more hats in the past 10 days then i can stand.. the dog is starting to NOT want me to walk her anymore. i can read her mind when i head to the door .. "ummm!! really?? ANOTHER walk? can't i skip this one? " LOL
Does this pass? will the boredom ever end? i quit for 6 weeks a few months ago and i can't remember beng this bored... maybe i blocked it. Its funny really, when i drank i could sit for hours just staring at the walls and not care... now i can't sit still for 5 minutes. AAWWWWWWEEEE.. I use my ativan to fall asleep i am afraid if i don't i will lie in bed awake.. oK now i am babbling.. but good lord..
well gotta go, the dog is sleeping and i need to wake her up and walk her again... HEEHEE...
caper *yawn*
I will say that yes I do think it will ease up some too as you adjust to sobriety - like you said getting to know your sober self. Enjoy your clean kitchen and your lean doggy while you can- as time went on my obsessiveness with cleaning eased up too.
Also I see you're in Canada - 6 months ago there was plenty more available to do as in outdoor chores! And more daylight hours to do them...so I'd tty to kick back and enjoy your down time while you have it- life will get busier and then you'll be all rested up and ready for it!!! :-)~
Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.

DAY 10 AF and bored to death
I can relate to this...I sometimes feel boredom creep on and think, wow, this sober thing is BORING. But what is the alternative...to drink your evening away only to wake up regretting all the next day? I have taken up MWO, reading novels, watching movies, doing craft work. But mostly reading and then getting a good night's sleep.Whatever you invest in the circle of LIFE is what comes back to you. Multiplied. What you give to people is what they eventually give back to you. Don't do the math. Just increase your LOVE.

I needed a good laugh after today Oney and you provided. Thank you! Seriously, I have been there too...the sad music and then drinking more and then crying and making up shite in my head that isn't even reality just to get sad over it. AL sucks. No more for this Blonde Babe.Whatever you invest in the circle of LIFE is what comes back to you. Multiplied. What you give to people is what they eventually give back to you. Don't do the math. Just increase your LOVE.

SC - I think boredom is just a way of looking at things incorrectly and am learning this as we speak. To quote from the article you posted the link to:
It?s simple: boredom plus surrender equals enlightenment
