Got home today after a REALLY good day, to a letter in our mailbox typed by an anonymous neighbor. Saying that our dog barks to much and he runs the streets and we need to control him, and they reported it to the council.
That is such a cowardly thing to do. I hate it when people do things like that and dont front up to any issues they have.

We are a neighborhood of cat people - 7 cats in our little driveway of five houses. One of my neighbors is currently on holiday in Sydney, and rang me to ask to borrow our cat cage ....... his house sitters had emailed him to say that his very sweet maine coone (18 years of age) was really sick and needed to go to the vet. Turned out the poor old cat had kidney failure and was in a lot of pain, so they had to have him put down. It was very odd yesterday to come back home and not see her sitting on the doorstep in her usual place.

Snap! My car is in having the clutch and cam belt done - and will cost $1700 when I pick it up today. :upset: It has just done 110,000k though, and virtually nothing has ever needed to be done on it. I was planning on buying a new ukulele today, and I am in two minds about whether to stick with the cheapo version for another two months until my savings account is back in healthy condition, or whether to bung it on the credit card.

Techie - hope it all turns out okay. I've got an ortho appt early next month - it is my knee that is the problem, but several months of limping have now also caused problems in my hips and back. I'm paying it lots of attention in January, with twice-weekly osteopath appointments, plus a bit of pilates and yoga, in an attempt to avoid more surgery on it, but apparently the consultant who I am seeing is a great believer in surgery and doesn't think much of physical therapies or even rehab!!!

Bridge - does this mean that you wont be taking your lappie away with you??? That we cant get minute-by-minute updates?? I hope you at least are taking your camera?!! :H

Rags - I loved the look on that cat's face!!

I was on a bus from Coogee into town a few years ago when a car ran a red light at Taylor's Square, turned right straight in front of the bus, and was pushed into the crowd of pedestrians waiting to cross the road. It was a bloody miracle that no-one was killed.

Now Undies, I have a really important thing to tell you. About 18months ago, I was having a major melt down about something that I was contractually required to do, but was stressing me out big time, and I was at a real low point. It was right after my brother had died and my mum had been in and out of hospital. Anyway, one absolutely horrible day when I was really hungover and totally miserable and couldn't stop crying or get out of bed, I came on here and got some really good advice from lots of people, including the mainstays of this thread - and I particularly remember a couple of things that Tawny and Mr G said to me that day.

Anyway, the thing that it was about was a text book that I was engaged in writing along with a colleague. As a result of the really good advice I got on here, I had a long discussion with my colleague about what was going on for me. She was amazingly sympathetic and supportive, and together we formulated a plan for going forward. Anyway, we put that plan into place, and have been moving forward, and yesterday in the mail I got my complimentary copies of the book, which we will launch next month!

Bridge said yesterday or the day before about the angels who have helped us find this site. For me that is so very true. I'm not going to give into emoticon-age at this point because the gratitude I experience is so much deeper than that.

Here's a cheer for all our guardian angels, and hope they get to celebrate their successes together sometimes!

Techie - thanks for this. I can completely agree with you that it is really great as my osteo had me doing something very similar last year for the stiffness in my lower back and gluteus maximus. You have reminded me that I still have the balls stashed away somewhere and I must dig them out and inflate them again.

Do you think there would be additional therapeutic effect if we got Bridge to make some bigger sized chicken balls?? :H

Sunny, Don’t you hate the anonymous complaint. Why can’t people just knock on your door and say what they need to say. But I guess things can become very confrontational these days . People are no longer courteous and approachable, and I guess perhaps they don’t know how you’d react.
Would you believe I had a neighbour ring the police (who came) because I was playing loud music. (It was Bach). All she had to do was cross the street and ask me to turn the volume down... it wasn’t as if it was a house full of rampaging bikies playing headbanger stuff. But she was really bad news in the neighbourhood. .Also note that KT keeps his dog firmly in hand at all times.

Tawn, it was very nice but a bugger to get at the claws. The sambal was fantastic.. shredded cocnut infused with lime/coriander and something else.. I will go back there again one day and ask what it was.

Hell Bridge, what was the matter with the car? That is an expensive repair.
Toe fungus is fine. Thanks for asking. BTW if you look closely (but why would you) between my left big toe and the next you can see the last remnant of where the leech got me.

What does DWA mean? All these abbs. Leave me baffled and confused and feeling ignorant.

Hey Missy, go buy a Hyundai Getz. Mine’s done over 226,000 km and all I do is put oil in it every now and then. It’s a great little car.

What great news about the book, and that Tawn, G, and others were able to give some sage advice.... which you took.

I often don’t feel able to give advice as it comes out a bit clumsy and not really expressing what I want to say. And others on this thread are so much more able to say things just the right way, the way I’d like to. So Undies, please don’t think I’m ignoring you or don't care. I do. it’s just that at times I can’t express my thoughts all that well, so I don't say anything, or very little. It is frustrating for me and I sometimes feel inadequate. So there's my little bit of soul exposure for to-day.

And here’s the cat last night telling me to get off MWO and feed him.

Hmmm maybe we can start up an older folks osteo thread. Techie, please keep us up to date with your femural head.
