Have had to put the brakes on the little locust, renamed chookboy. How do you convince a 12 year old that yelling, good work Sunny, when the chook lays is NOT going to encourage her.....in confidence Undies, he reminds me of Luke from Modern Family soooo much...

Oh Happy, that made me laugh so much!! What lovely boys you have and what great names you have all picked!!

Coriander - good choices on your part. For me too, this is a place for me to say stuff in private. Mr B knows all about my participation in MWO, and I tell him about nice stuff that is happening (like why I am knitting baby clothes ) and the Tigger and Piglet threads - but if I ever found out he was reading posts without my invitation to do so that would feel like a big invasion of privacy (not just for me but for others as well).

Plus having a new name can be quite empowering!! I certainly felt that when I changed from being Aunty Mame to Miss Behaving

Hope you got to give BTC the requisite amount of affection before heading off Rags!!

Last day today that Mr B's boy is here. Lots of crap going on as usual, with hi Mum trying to control what he does when he is here from 392 km away. Tomorrow Mr B is due to drive him home, and they are supposed to get his new school uniform en route. His mother has been in his ear all week about how Mr B doesn't know the right stuff to get, will get all the wrong sizes, etc etc. My prediction is that when they turn up to the uniform shop, boy will have a crisis of confidence and decide that he thinks he should do the shopping with his mother. Next week we will get an email from the lawyer about all the things we did wrong while he was here. I cant wait.

So we have just been trying to make it a pleasant weekend and not getting too stressed about about anything. Celebratory dinner tonight (pork belly, apple sauce, potato dauphinoise, and vegetables that he wont eat!!) to mark his transition to secondary school.

Just had a non-celebratory but very nice Sunday Lamb Roast. Here t'is ... Al fresco for three. Don't care what the other two are doing, I'm going for a nanna nap.

And Mr Rags and I will be cooking......... roast lamb tonight.

I won't have any brussel sprouts, and damn, I forgot to get carrot. Mr Rags doesn't eat parsnip, so there'll only be a bit for me.

Thanks TF - quite seriously, the thought that a whole lot of people who don't really know me are on my side in a dynamic with someone that I have never met either, and can not even have a discussion with is strangely comforting! And I know it isn't about "sides", but I am really at the end of my tether. Anyway, my task for this year is finding some way of dealing with this in a more positive way, and not letting her get to me and falling off the rails. First counseling session booked for Thursday this week!! Mr B and I have also have some lengthy discussions booked about what it might mean for either or both of us to "walk away" - not from the boy, but from the incessant fight to have contact with him. Harder for Mr B than for me, but the continued refusal of his mum to have any contact whatsoever with Mr B puts boy into a position where he is in the middle all the time. What is more damaging for him????? - to not have any contact with his dad (or to only have contact with his mum dictating the terms from on the sidelines) or to be in the middle trying to negotiate between his parents?

This whole issue is dominating my life at the moment, and I'm pretty fed up with it. Once school holidays are over, and boy is settled into the new school, discussions will be opened for some new rules of engagement. But I have some plans for 2012 which involve a return to some assertiveness training a la 1980s

Missy, I'm not sure I know of many people who would have coped with what you have without losing the plot...and I actually wasnt aware she was on a no contact vendetta with Mr B which is juvenile when they have a child together....bring on the 80's revival of assertive Missy! just dont bring the shoulder pads...
