    Underoos and Mates 2012 January....

    Good on you Missy.
One of our greatest challenges, staying positive and surrounding ourselves with positive folk.

I have a profoundly good feeling about this year for us all though. I really do. Woke up at 5am on New Year's Day and just had a feeling in my waters, I did.:H
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

I really hope your waters are right Bridgeeee....have they always been correct?:H

I am falling in love with my bbq all over again. Roast a leg of lamb in there as we speak.
Accompaniments will be roast veg, of course.

You know, I think i would have gone bonkers long long ago if I didn't actually LIKE cooking.
My animals are my saviours, but at least cooking keeps me in the good books!

Favourite comfort food : spag carbonara using real pancetta & cream.

                Hiya Beags

We are coping just fine here. Kinda of glad it is all over and we can move forward. But it was a hell of a weekend.

Messed up dinner tonight, it was my first attempt at homemade pasta, it was supposed to be spinach and ricotta ravioli but I was finding the dough too hard to work. Anyone have pasta experience?

The local chinese duck house came to the rescue.

I make my own pasta sometimes Ella, it is a bitch to get the dough recipe right.
I've got an Avanti pasta whizz but I need 1 hand to feed in dough, 1 hand to guide out dough, & 1 hand to hold machine down. Now as The Thing doesn't reside in my house, I find it challenging!
Having said that, I've only made standard fettucine....not experimented with the ravioli attachment yet (it's been in the box for 2 yrs) but would LOVE to make that flavoured ravioli!!!!

Enough burblings from moi, must go wash the shit of the day from my hair!

Riding horses = sweaty hair= smelly helmet!!!

Are you making plain dough pasta ( 1 egg to 100gm strong 00 flour), then stuffing with spinach & ricotta?
Hint might be to make own ricotta as store-bought stuff too sloppy unless it's from the fresh deli section. & cook spinach well to drain thoroughly......ya with me? ie filling dry.....

do you need lessons? I am a good coach, if you can believe it!
I will gladly teach you everything that I know , which is not half as much as I want....

All those bored by horse-talk, look away now....

I have been in love with horses since a little kiddy (haven't most little girls!!)
When my folks split up (I was aged 9), my mother took a job at a riding school. She had a natural flair for horses ( like ball-room dancing, she was a champion ), & every spare moment we had as kids was spent at this riding school.
I remember being bathed in a cement trough as I was too small to shower with the big girls.
I remember getting up at sparrow's to go catch my nominated pony, & groom the living daylights outta him/her.
I remember being able to catch some ponies that other people couldn't.
I remember riding so hard in the heat I collapsed from heat exhaustion.
I remember getting bucked off onto a fence where I didn't feel my toes for a little bit.
I remember a horse rearing above me, & he landed within inches of my head. He twisted in mid-air to avoid me.
I remember being picked up by my forearm when I was 10, as a horse bit me, so I swung up my right arm & punched the fucker square on the snout.
When my mother could no longer afford riding lessons, I would go to my Uncle's house in Bridgetown where he'd broken in his own horses, which my cousin & I would ride bareback, double bareback, & double facing-backwards bareback. We swam horse in the Blackwood River.
Then I would hire horses to ride up in Perth, cos there was no other way.
At Uni, our Equine registrar's brother was a racehorse trainer, so I volunteered to exercise his horses with him & got an exhilaration fix from beach gallops at 4.30 am. Mornings of sheer adrenalin, developing great core strength & good biceps.
I got my track jockey's license whilst i did my vet degree.
Then, getting married & moving to farm, I got my first horse!
                                I haven't looked back since.
They are a creature of true majesty & honour.
To ride them is to trust them. For them, to trust YOU is the ultimate honour.

                                Sorry 'bout the outburst.
