Thank you Missy. I think I am actually frightened now that I cannot do the AF thing. I am hoping it is the downer from the booze and that it will pass. I want to get my 30 days behind me and I want to start feeling myself again.

Missy, I loathe squats but have been doing some in yoga positions, so its not too bad...have to do them and need to devise ways to make me think I'm not...

Ella you can do anything you want. You'll go 30 days easily. Then more. Lean on the collective we here. Helping each other is what this place is all about. It's what we do. I think we lose sense of that sometimes while we boast about the fun things in life. Dinners, kids, jokes, and stuff that makes us unique that we love to share. However we all share alcoholism for our being here. While those daily posts are fun and exciting, never lose sight of why we are a community. Not one of us here I imagine has not struggled from time-to-time . Out of control drinking, emotional drinking, can take a foothold. Go and kick it down the road. Feel yourself again, sense those good sober mornings and tap into those things that bring you joy without the alcohol. I wish you all the best. John xxx

Ella - I think your fear is more than likely to be the result of your binge and will abate with each passing AF day.

Saucy - as requested, my views on car tyre gardening.

Pros: Recycling of readily available material. Tick.

Cons: Fuskugly. Depending on where they came from and how old they are, I believe that some brake drum linings made prior to about '86-'87 contained asbestos. Also, the amount of top-soil/potting mix required to fill said tyres is vast and a lot of it is 'wasted' in the channel(?) of the tyre. Also, being black it would be like growing stuff in black plastic pots. With your climate I don't believe you would need added heat.

The one exception I would make is ... I think they're great for growing spuds as you can keep adding height as the little praties grow and nestle into the channel.

My views only; the others may totally disagree. My preferred method was the "no-dig" method and I had access to good railway sleepers which I used as retaining walls. As I also have no topsoil to speak of, this system allowed for veggies to grow in minimal pockets of soil/potting mix.

34C here and I'm not doing squats.

You sound like Mr Happs with the only if I'm growing spuds....

I agree about the fugly but - remember the Kevin house where they bagged them?? I think they can be prettified...more worried about the temp and asbestos prob, though if we get relatively recent ones from the local tyre place?? So maybe for the retaining walls of which we will need 3 in total to replace the existing sleepers...

With you also on the no dig - but might have to look at sleepers for the vege gardens....untreated, maybe red gum?

Re the tyre gardens, I've heard that they can leach heavy metals into the soil and produce. It would be great to reuse them, but I wouldn't dare myself. Kind of defeats the purpose.

I am scrapping the idea, have googled and the prospective leaching isnt worth it....plan b...needs to be cheap and not likely to kill anyone either now or in the future....

Morning undies, Ellaq wise words from Techie, yes you can do it, you must and it is so much better than the alternative. The social aspect of here is brilliant as is the army but it isn't Facebook, we are all here for the same reason and I don't think anyone here is immune to struggles with AL no matter at what stage of their personal journey they are at.
