And WATER, WATER, WATER!!! With a squeeze of lemon if you can. Also, when you've reached a goal, if it's 24 hours or 30 days, give yourself a treat, like a chocolate fudge sundae. Don't let AL romance you into thinking 'now I can have JUST one'. Usually a very bad idea.
I give up tobacco this week, and GAWD I'm dreading that. Have to wait till I know I have all my meds refilled, don't want to take on THAT demon while I'm worrying about something else. Still playing catch with my meds since I had all those stolen, but Hub's and I are ever vigilant now, like they were a loaded gun. Unfortunately, the girl in question has become big friends now with my OLDEST g
daughter! But not in my house.
ATL, did you or MB see the Falcon's game yesterday? WHERE have those players been all season?? Had Tampa Buc's down 41-0 at half-time, I think, and coach put in the B-team. Still won 45-24,but next week they're up against the Giants in NJ, and Manning. Michael Turner was outstanding!

Back from Tick Hollow. Everything that could have gone wrong, DID! Water heater kicked the bucket and the half mile long driveway iced up so badly, the fennelmoblile ended up sliding backwards down a steep hill towards the little creek at the bottom...fortunately, we stayed on track. I had to grunt a wheelbarrow of limestone gravel up the huge hill (no small feat, since the pile of gravel was frozen!) and left it parked with the car overnight. This morning, the weather hadn't improved, so we grunted our suitcases and dirty laundry a quarter mile up the hill to the car. I then spread out the gravel and managed to make it up the rest of the hill.

Got to the cow gate, only to discover that the lock was frozen. Finally got it unlocked, but couldn't get it locked again. I'm exhausted.

Sounds like some of my trips, Fen. Here's a thought - 4X4!! :H The little road up to our road is asphalt, straight up, and we've done the sideways slide before too, but once once on the gravel road I'm good. Pulled a lot of guys out, too. Do you have a generator? That's next on my wish list, since our fireplace won't heat the house. And given our end of the world location, we go out and stay out when trees fall.
It's up to our road, down to our drive, up to our house. We have a wood burning cookstove that's not hooked up yet, another wish, but I have to haul firewood from the bottom of the hill in a wheelbarrow when I run out!
So good to have you back, love.

Rubes, I DO have 4X4, LOL! Doesn't work on glare ice, unfortunately. I had to go off to the side of the drive (where able) to get traction on the grass. It's a gravel drive, but completely covered with ice on the first half. Might have to get chains for my tires if I want to continue to drive in to the cabin.

On the up side, we saw a bald eagle through the bedroom window when we were lying in on Saturday morning...so gorgeous! I found a raccoon skull, too! It really adds to that rustic charm of the cabin. :H I am glad to be back, for a change.

Sounds nice, Fen. We don't usually use chains here, but agree about the glaze. I'm to fragile to live in those temps, like a hothouse orchid!! :H

You and Mrs. Fen! She sat up in the truck while I grunted the wheelbarrow back down the hill, came up, and went down to fetch a butane lighter after she said the lock was frozen! I don't mind the cold like she does...the windchill was just above zero.

Fen, you are a TOUGH sistuh!! I used to work in any kind of weather, was really tough and hardy, but 6 bouts with bronchial pneumonia weakened me so now, I get the stink-eye from Hubs when I won't get out in the elements. Spent too many winters sleeping sitting up in a recliner, sick, and with broken ribs. I've gotten SO much better since I took the pneumonia shot, haven't had it in 5 years, but just found out I have to have it again, soon. But that little stick is NOTHING compared to a raging fever and coughing, sneezing, with a couple of broken ribs, or trips to the ER where they did venapunctures, weeks in a hospital feeling so bad I was truly evil! YIKES! I'm strong like bulless now, just don't want to take a chance anymore, but I do whatever is needed when I'm alone. And THEN I get the stinkeye for doing too much!! :H
                  You be careful. Stuff happens!

I have to repat myself , I was a gallon of rum day drinker, well up to a gallon of day some of the better days i would pass out before i could get to half, but nothing too funny about that. AL is a poision and even after 32 days sober my body still aches and feels like crap waking up in the morning, i researched these symtoms and they can last fo up to 6 months to a year...another reason never to pick up that bottle again. Make this New Years a Year to stop, wow im not spending around 20 dollars a night. I dont have to wake up with a worse hangover or go throughut the day feeling miserable, no appetite, bloated look all over..yuck.. Wishing everyone a AF free day!

Rubes, good for you on getting the pneumonia shot. It's worth it.

Mama, I'm pretty darned happy to be home. Had a nice, hot shower as soon as I came in the door!

Bird, it definitely WAS an adventure. I knew we weren't in any serious danger...could have hiked a mile up the road and called a tow from the neighbor's house, LOL! Still, it would have really bugged me if we had to tow my fennelmobile out of a creek! :H

Hope everybody is doing well tonight!

WOW!!! I've just had to convert a gallon to litres to understand the quantity. You've done so amazingly well. I really hope your body begins to feel better soon - you deserve it
