I'm so grateful to all your messages of support and congratulations, a big :l to Starty for living up to her name and starting this thread. It's only in this world that this accomplishment is acknowledged. In the outer world it isn't seen as a big deal but all of you here know how our battle with the booze is indeed a BIG deal and for me reaching this landmark is huge and means the world to me.
I read somewhere that the 1st year of sobriety is about focusing solely on staying sober which was certainly true for me. In the 2nd year it's about learning to live again as a sober person which can be even more challenging. My life has certainly been challenging this year and it's only been through the wisdom of MWO that has kept me on the straight and narrow. I have listened to those who walked the path before me and heeded the words of warning about attempts to moderate. So here I am 2 years AF!
I have spent a quiet day alone and watched the movie "A Beautiful Mind", those who know me will know of my fascination with our minds and so it seemed fitting.
For anyone starting out on an AF life please know that it is an incredible journey, my awareness of life has been heightened tenfold. I have felt emotions I had never felt before and most of all I am experiencing what it is to be alive completely free of any mind altering substances. This is how it was suposed to be for us all and it's never too late to claim it back.
