      just want it over

      Hey Dove

PLease come around today and let everyone know you're OK. Don't give up-don't start thinking
to hell with it; it's just too hard. It's hard but you can find the strength to do it.

It's easier than the absolute hell you live in when drinking.

      Take care

        just want it over

i'm here. still feel not all that put together. just got up and turned on the rose bowl parade.

has anyone gone to the smart recovery meetings? what are they like? there are a few around here. would they mind if i brought my husband with me...i don't think i would be able to go in on my own. i probably won't get the strength to go at all so i don't know why i am asking.

Dove, just glad you're here. Today is better, yes? I don't know about Smart but others will tell you. Hang in there, friend.

            just want it over

Dove, I was reading up a bit on the Smart Recovery website yesterday. Doggygirl is pretty familiar with them, so maybe you could ask her. I guess they also have online meetings (different from MWO) and some worksheets that look helpful.
If your husband is willing to go with you, that is a big step. If he's not, then go anyway. It's an hour out of your life and a step in the right direction.
It's a Monday and a New Year, and that is already a step in the right direction.

              just want it over

              Hey Dove

SO happy to hear from you on this forum today. Smart Recovery is one of several ways to approach the issue.
I was like you, reading, ordering books, crying, scrambling around trying desperately to find an answer. I felt lost , out of control and destined to just be a screw-up.

I think the method you choose is not the critical point. I think the critical point is that you know in your heart that you are not being the best person you can be. Addiction is like that;it kind of takes your soul.

Some people like AA, as well as other things like Rational Recovery. The first step down that long road comes from a conviction, a promise that you make to yourself that you will get better.

Go where you need to go, take who you need to take. Just get moving on taking your life back.
I'm a bit of a loner so it doesn't bother me to do anything or go anywhere alone. But do what you have to do; maybe if your husband sees your determination it will help.

Dove, hang in there. Most of us have been in your shoes and felt that desperate. I don't have an answer, I am searching as well. I am praying for you!
                Hope :h

                  just want it over

Dove, i did Smart Recovery and it was one of the tools i finally found that helped me to quit drinking forever. They help you to learn how to change your behavoirs and thinking. I really liked it because it gave me power i never thought i had to be able to quit drinking. I tried AA before and even after i quit drinking and it just wasnt for me but i know i works for some people. Try everything and anything but for anything to work you really have to do the work. You also need a good support system. I use this site for my support since i really dont have people in my life that understand this problem. Once you quit drinking there will probably be other things you need to work on. AL destroys you ability to deal with problems anx sometimes just life in general. I am still learning how to deal with stuff but i have found no matter how bad or hard things may seem, they are far more easy to deal with when you dont drink.

I wish you the best and please try everything you can to stop this.
AL free since March 17th 2011...loving this life. No drinking no matter what.

Hi my name is Lori and i am so happy to be here.
