    Arvo folk's,

    Go for it Momma 2!

I just came across this in a yank newsletter.

Strange Sports Quotes: WHY ATHLETES CAN'T HAVE REGULAR JOBS: 1. Chicago Cubs outfielder Andre Dawson on being a role model:"I wan' all dem kids to do what I do, to look up to me. I wan' all the kids to copulate me." 2. New Orleans Saint RB George Rogers when asked about the upcoming season:"I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first." 3. And, upon hearing Joe Jacobi of the 'Skin's say:"I'd run over my own mother to win the Super Bowl,"Matt Millen of the Raiders said: "To win, I'd run over Joe's Mom, too."

    4. Torrin Polk, University of Houston receiver, on his coach, John Jenkins:"He treat us like mens. He let us wear earrings." 5. Football commentator and former player Joe Theismann:"Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein." 6. Senior basketball player at the University of Pittsburgh:"I'm going to graduate on time, no matter how long it takes."(Now that is beautiful) 7. Bill Peterson, a Florida State football coach:"You guys line up alphabetically by height."And, "You guys pair up in groups of three, and then line up in a circle."

    8. Boxing promoter Dan Duva on Mike Tyson going to prison:"Why would anyone expect him to come out smarter? He went to prison for three years, not Princeton." 9. Stu Grimson, Chicago Blackhawks left wing, explaining why he keeps a color photo of himself above his locker:"That's so when I forget how to spell my name, I can still find my clothes." 10. Lou Duva, veteran boxing trainer, on the Spartan training regimen of heavyweight Andrew Golota:"He's a guy who gets up at six o'clock in the morning, regardless of what time it is." 11. Chuck Nevitt , North Carolina State basketball player, explaining to Coach Jim Valvano why he appeared nervous at practice:"My sister's expecting a baby, and I don't know if I'm going to be an uncle or an aunt. (I wonder if his IQ ever hit room temperature in January)

    12. Frank Layden , Utah Jazz president, on a former player:"I asked him, 'Son, what is it with you? Is it ignorance or apathy?'He said, 'Coach, I don't know and I don't care.'" 13. Shelby Metcalf, basketball coach at Texas A&M, recounting what he told a player who received four F's and one D:"Son, looks to me like you're spending too much time on one subject." 14. In the words of NC State great Charles Shackelford:"I can go to my left or right, I am amphibious." 15. Former Houston Oilers coach Bum Phillips when asked by Bob Costas why he takes his wife on all the road trips,Phillips responded: "Because she's too ugly to kiss good-bye."

    Have a great evening roo's.

Going to the supermarket again tomorrow and will do dinners in the unit. And by the way the supermarket does not stock curry or curry powder or coriander or basil or sesame oil ....
Your coriander is our cilantro, it took me a few months to figure that out once I moved here. What kind of crappy supermarket is it? Probably better off cooking for yourself for now. If you;re heading to San Francisco I can start a book restaurants for you to visit. Are you go anywhere else outside of Mammoth?

Well done Mof2!! I saw on another thread about how you were worried about the amount of time needed to be AF before taking antabuse, and the suggestion that you try half a tab ........ have you got someone who can keep a watch on you in case of any bad reactions?

Love those sports quotes G :H:H

It was a public holiday here today ...... I was supposed to finish a report that is overdue, but I listened to a Stephen Fry audio-book, played the ukulele and watched a DVD instead. Now I have to deal with being behind on things for the rest of the week :upset:

Hubby has gone back to work.:yay:

How sad it that......but he has admitted himself that he cannot handle toddler tantrums......he reacts in a tantrum manner himself. So one less thing to deal with.

I just did my first online shopping order. Do you know that they deliver booze and cigarettes with your groceries?

Missy.....loved you bedtime with baby. Tonight I hope to at least get into my bed.

Rags......you are the most well travelled person I know.

MissB, no one knows I am about to take AB. I may tell my DH tonight. I will see how I feel. however my mum is comming over tomorrow as I need to sort out her laptop, so plan to take it just before she arrives. I will do the 1/2 tab first, wait 30 mins and if no reaction, then will do the rest. 9am tomorow will be about 36hrs since last drink, so I *should* be ok.

Will let everyone know how I go

                  Gster, love the sports quotes.

Super long day today, so glad it's almost over. I have a killer recipe for you guys if you like ice cream. In Hawaii the local dessert is called Hula Pie. It's macadamia ice cream pie. You make the cookie pie crust with oreos or something similar. Give it a whirl if you feel up to it. I am going to make it in a month when my folks come over so we can have a slice of the islands. I've been going to Maui every year or two since I was one. Now that I live here I have not been, but it's on the next trip itinerary.

And by walking around like a pirate I mean he has a patch on his eye - not making like Johnny Depp...though that would be cool....

I've always pictured Mr. Happs as a Johnny Depp lookalike for some reason Happs.

Lovin' the ice cream vibe Sunny!

Got a hold of 'kick the drink' book by Vale, J. today. Bridge, didn't you order a copy? What do you make of it? Page 25 here, so a bit early to tell, but will read the lot. Like the vibe so far.

Hope everyone's chilled and easy. Noight.

Just jumping in to say Hi. I also checked in for the first time in the Newbie's Nest tongiht, but thought I would do the same here seeing as I'm from Melbs. I have been lurking at this forum for a while but only on this thread for the past couple of weeks. It's a good one though.

Evening all! I've read Vale's book and it hit a chord for me. Actually, it just said what I had thought about AL for a long time. It was good to see it written by an 'expert' - it gave my thinking validation I guess.
