Sunny, did i tell you i once presented a spoon of vegemite to a Brazillian girl i shared a house with when i was living in London? This girl loved her chocolate, so of course, i convinced her this was a very special chocolate from Oz. Similar colour/texture, so she fell for it, even though her intuition i could see was telling her no. :H Her expression when she ate it was priceless. What a meany.......
Hi Cara and a huge welcome to you! Great to see you here. A couple of us are in Melbourne too.
Hiya Rags! Great to see your pics as usual and appreciate you sharing. You went to a restaraunt in 'Convict lake road'? Home away from home......:H
Good to see you Aspy.
Hi Ruby, Frog and all to follow.
Wishing everyone a safe, sober, and magical day. :h

Morning fellow undies
Day 2 and start of AB for me this morning. Didn't sleep too well last night, only about 2hrs on and off, however I was expecting that, my body has to re-learn how to sleep without AL. Hopefully it re-learns quickly!
Rags - interesting food choices. Enjoy the day in the snow
MHPlace - hope your kidies get better soon. We have been meaning to get chooks for the past 2 years...still waiting for DH to build the chook pen LOL
Cara - welcome, I am new here too.
If I have missed anyone, sorry, am just getting to know who is who
Have a great day
Jo

I'm getting chooks again this spring. Have great memories of my maternal grandmother who was known as 'Chit' since some of the little grands couldn't say chicken, and she loved her chickens. But could easily pluck one up and wring its neck for dinner. She was born on an Indian territory b/c of her heritage, a pioneer in the days of Laura Ingalls Wilder. It was gruesome, but she told me so much about how they lived off the land and what they grew. I only want the eggs now, as long as there are grocery stores. :H My goat and Hubs have an unnaturally close relationship, she adores him because he feeds her daily and she's gotten fat.sigpic

Back for a skid -by.
Welcome Cara and Mum of Two.....haven't we got lots of lovely new friends?
Just had to wizz out early and buy a telescopic pole pruner, as one does first thing on a Tuesday. The boys used my last one to rig up a scooter drag race. Thence to wrestle with a recalcitrant shrub in electric wiring...in the rain...
Yes G folk, I have got the Vale book. Found it a little repetitive, but it does contain some valuable messages even though it's simplistic. I haven't finished it yet, but I do keep returning to the revelation that I don't actually LIKE the taste of alcohol. By the end of my pisshead career, I only like two types of alcohol, Champagne and Vodka. It surprised me to realise that I'd been disguising the taste of each just to 'get it down'. That is not enjoying a drink.
Have found myself feeling remarkably calm the last couple of days. After Happs remark re coffee, I swapped to tea, and it's amazing the difference. Might also give dairy a miss for a bit, just on a hunch.
Off to pick up a copy of the last Stieg Larsson. A bit sad really.....poor bloke. If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Hey folks. I'm in Taos, NM. I came to meet some friends for the Superbowl weekend. A bit of skiing and football. My Giants did the deed. Very exciting game. After dinner last night, we headed to the main lobby of the lodge. There was a choir group there on a ski trip. They were singing some more popular tunes when we arrived. Showing off we thought. Everyone was proding them on with requests, many that they had no clue how to collectively perform. The leader of the group decided they had enough. He said one more and they were off to their rooms. They then sang the humming chorus from Madama Butterfly. I was transfixed. It was the most beautiful performance of this beautiful piece of music I've ever heard. I still feel the sting of my tears!Outside of a dog a book is mans best friend. Inside of a dog its too dark to read

BBJ, I too love my telescoping pruners. They've been purloined and left in the rain too, but I track down the miscreant theives and get them back. Wish I had Paul Bunyons stamina and could still lift and toss all those limbs, but thankfully have enough young men in my life trying to gain my favor for my young womenfolk, and I put them to the task without guilt. And feed them well. Maybe that's the draw. If I had their strength still, Oh what I could do!! Spring is coming here, jonquils are blooming and all is budding after an incredibly mild winter. One renter is so excited I get frequent calls to identify the plants blooming in the yard of the old homeplace where they live. But all is good, and I like them loads.sigpic

oh, I meant to say that I also got the Vale book from Amazon. Like Bridge says, its a bit repetitve, but then again he fully acknowledges that. I really like the positive messages he gives (although sometimes I think they veer into the over-optimistic!!) - I always feel a bit ground down by some of the AA messages. I also really like his line on not buying into feeling shamed and therefore not asking for help.Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

Ok maybe I need to read the Vale book....
Bridge on giving dairy the flick, I've been cutting back too and it seems to have put a lid on the hayfever/sinus things I had happening.... Not sure if its connected but it seems to be working.
Ok Undies, I've got a question...I know I could post it in holistics but being as I'm lazy and all...what supps is everyone taking if any at all? I've been sucking them up and tweaking lists a bit but base my current state of well being on this. So thought I'd ask.

Rubes, I have TWO pairs of telescoping pruners. They're terrific.
