Underoos and Affiliates, February, 2012
Hi everyone, a quick fly-by to say oi.
Been busy with horse stuff here, must have travelled all over WA for the past few weeks.
Odometer on car now reading 443 684. Thank feck for Toyotas!
All ok in animal department, going to the big smoke end of week so OH can watch another bastardly boring game of cricket, so I might go shopping. But window only.
Been eating shit (gut muck) for the past few days so now feeling sloth-like, must sort that out.
Hi to Mof2 & Cara & nicelife, lovely to see everyone holding up their repsective ends.
Been reading The Slap & it's not a bad read, but not terribly good either. Anyone want to borrow it after?
A large collective mwah to you all.
Vroom.

Elk. We chose elk as we thought we?ll never be able to eat it anywhere else as it is American etc....
Mr Rags commented that the Elk was nice.
?Yes,? says waitress, ?it?s always consistent taste and quality. It?s farmed?
?Oh?? says Mr Rags.
?Yes, it comes from NEW ZEALAND?.
I nearly cracked up. So there ya go Missy... you export lamb, venison, Icebreaker and elk
I just did a wee google and it was probably farmed venison.
I often wonder about the views of NZ that people have internationally - this sort of belief is just down-right untrue. I often wonder where it comes from - whether it lies from marketing people or whatever. But we basically only do dairy, lamb and wool in terms of meat/agriculture.
Mr B and I had a riot at the Thai cooking course tonight. He has trouble with my occupying the kitchen at the same time as he does, but I wanted to have a go at making the green curry paste from scratch. So he occupied himself making the beautiful side decorations that go with Thai food. Our cooking neighbours managed perfectly beautiful thinly sliced carrot and zucchini bouquets. Mr B did a gloriously gloriously imperfect capsicum top, that was decorated with lime zest and basil leaves and was indecorously planted on top of the curry. We were in stitches ... the other punters took themselves much more seriously and had beautifully presented dinners. I reckon ours tasted better though :H
And the host and cook enjoyed us so much that we got a return voucher for half price
It did my heart a power of good to be laughing together again :lNever give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

Hi everyone!
Thanks for the new welcomes- Rags, aspman, Miss Behaving, tawnyfrog , Guitarista, MumofTwo, byebyebridgetjones and coriander (sorry if I missed anyone).
Myhappyplace – I only take vitamin D and B1 for supps. I took Milk Thistle for a while but only about a month.
While many people are low in vitamin D, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be an al related problem, I’m pretty sure the years I racked up becoming more and more reclusive and avoiding the real world and sunlight did contribute.
When my D levels were tested about a year and a half ago they were so low that they couldn’t actually get a reading. They are back at nearly normal levels.
I also take a med- Campral.

Sheesh, I just laughed the most I have since yesterday. You lot crack me up.
Thai Grapes TF, awesome! I have played many a tricks on people in my past. ISome of them still make me laugh upon memory.
Gster, I bought some musk stick lollies over here, and took them back to California to "share" with people. Sorry in advance to anyone that likes them. Anyways they smell/taste like a very popular cheap older womens perfume. I got pure delight in getting people to try them while I sat by and smiled as their faces made that gack face.
I also have tricked my brother into eating mushrooms on more than one occasion. He detests them. While I still laugh about it, he didn't see the humor.
Also Rags, it looks like your staying in a place stuck in the past. The food looks disgusting, sorry. That is not what American food is all about. Now, you'll have to let us redeem ourselves by planning a trip to San Francisco, or something or ruther where I can direct you to AMAZING food. Those pictures were shocking.

I've eaten a lot better. Will try a hamburger in town this arvo. We had brilliant hamburgers in New York and Mass.

And IMHO ... the cheese platter is a bit minimalist but I do think (if I squeeze my eyes tightly) I can see some antlers garnishing the Mousse dish. Don't quite understand the Mistral fan underlay on the snails but there ya go ...
The highlight of the meal was "we have lovely consistent elk, imported specially fromNew Zealand..."

Where's the other half of the strawberry?:H
The cheese platter was very little cut "but wafer thin" and raggedy at the edges.
And this is at THE best restaurant in the place.
Speaking of antlers, I'll take a few piccies of decorative lighting in the hotel later......

Oh Happy! You've hit it right on the head! Bang on!
Going to town this arvo food shopping.
The apartment has a 2 burner cooktop,
a saucepan, a frying pan and a large boiler.
I reckon that?ll be enough equipment for me and Mr Rags to whip up something worthy of a kitchen godess tonight.

Beautiful place and lovely food...
Happs, that looks lovely.
Is it mega expensive?
I could buy a cooking lesson for Mr Rags birthday, but I didn't see any prices. Good excuse to drive up north for a few days.
There's also that absolutely brilliant restaurant somewhere in the Grampians that I think also does cooking classes.

Rags........love the soup. And the presentation is right up their with my own standards. Is this the place where you posted the menu? It wasn't cheap either.
Half a strawberry is one thing but who serves half a brussel sprout?
And yes, that is a true representation of the decor........
Ell, the soup was over salted and overcooked. The onions were a bit burnt.
I reckon pizza or hamburgerand home cooking is the way to go from now on.
