Quick dash in

Am OK
Things settled down, but he isn't very chatty at best of times, so I let things ride but preparing him healthy rabbit food lunches, And he's sort of agreed to have a meal replacement dring every other day. so getting some good results. He goes to heart man tomorrow..
In a huge rush yesterday, and have to go now over to Oakdale to see a dear friend who has liver cancer.... she has never taken alcohol, doesn't smoke, eats well. Cancer is such an indiscriminate killer.

I then have to VROOM over to Wingello to see a chap about fixing the mess the other bloke made.


Then up to Sinny tomorrow to look after Mr Rags' dad for a week and a bit. Hope they have wireless there so I can log on to MWO.

Sorry I didn't get online yesterday. Will read back tonight.

Morning Undies.....have been tossing up lately about whether to get my citizenship and regain my voting rights....still undecided on that count.

Feel like I am surrounded by sickies...well, two really. Mr Happs still struggling on and the eldest locust with the recurring headaches....hard to know if he's scamming or not....everytime I think he is I just see my little boy sick not this massive man child pulling a swifty....will see...

Morning Unies

You know those dreams where you keep trying to get somewhere and you just can't make it no matter how hard you try. Well that was my reality last night trying to get to the beach, it took hours and no-matter where we turned we hit heavy traffice, got lost twice and finally ended up on a road heading in the opposite direction, all up it took 2 hours. We did finally end on a beach just before sunset. It was hell....

Thinking of you Cinders. I am sure Mr Rags will get there in time. I have recently come to realise the advertising con of food and alcohol. They advertise all these wonderful things and I think that because everyone else seems to be consuming them I am OK too. But the reality for me is no alcohol and healthy foods.

I hear you on the advertising con Ella. You get to a certain point and it is really in your face. Also the soft sell in tv shows....checkout how much wine Penny in Big Bang puts away....or most other movies or sitcoms, theres always a half bottle of wine sitting on the kitchen bench.

Alrighty then, as the distributor of mass huggage I have decreed that Cinders, Ragsy, Haps, Missy, Sunny get hugest of aforementioned physical contacts, with consolation displays of affection to stirls for her exquisitely lovely posts, tawns & bridge cos I want to, & Ella & Mo2 for having to put up with this shitty heat along with me.
For the blokes : I swear I won't press my pelvis into yours, so big hugs also.

Got the 1st of a 5 week course today, the "Don't Stop it, Swap it" campaign that our tiny little town applied for a grant from, & received, so today is an interactive cooking class which should be fun in 40 degree heat, then a fitball class on Monday.

Yesty had a session with my councillor & she is pleased with my progress. Funny that the approval of this lady is something that makes me happy!

hello undies,

when I did my knee in last year, my GP referred me to the hospital. We both thought it was a torn cartilage, and the GP suggested that strengthening the knee muscles (squats, lunges etc etc) would help to support the joint. I've been doing that and my knee has been getting progressively better, but about 6 months ago my hip started to get quite painful. Anyway, I had the long-awaited hospital appointment this morning, including x-rays, and it turns out that as well as having a torn cartilage (but not a seriously torn one), I have extensive arthritis in my left hip joint (no wonder I find it difficult to do step ups on my left leg ). I've been scouring the internet trying to work out whether this is connected to drinking. As far as I can work out, there isn't a direct link, just the general "heavy alcohol use can cause bone de-generation" stuff. I think that some genetic factors (my mum has very bad arthritis, and my older sister has also developed it) and being overweight for a lot of my life are probably more likely explanatory factors.

To begin with I was just glad to get a diagnosis, as the pain has been getting me down a bit for the last 6 months. But just in the last hour, I've been feeling a bit upset about how I've treated my body for the last 20 years. The way forward is losing weight, and more biking and swimming according to the specialist. I've got to do this - but I'm reminded of Bridge's statement yesterday that resonated with me about the five stages of grief and not getting stuck in them

tonight, I'm feeling like I wish I could turn the clock back about 30 years .... (while still knowing what I know now!).

Not too much happening this side of AU, just crazy at work and still going strong AF, the weekend could not come quick enough.

Ella - you have just decribed the reason I dont go to the beach LOL (apart from sand in my cossie!)

To all those have a challenging time, thinking of you and I hope it all settles down soon.

Good Evening Undies,

Thanks for the kind words yesterday. I had a long day with parents at hospital. Dad with pre-op stuff and mom having her fixator removed from her wrist.

She was a trooper and didn't even wince while they were unscrewing the pins. She was just grateful to have the darned thing gone. She was smiling last night for the first time in a few days.

Thank Heavens for my friend who came to help. I don't think I could have done the two wheelchair thing alone, much less for seven hours at the hospital.

As evening becomes bedtime, here is hoping all Undies slip into their super hero pants and fall into soft beds and let the sandman beckon.

ah Cinders hopefully your folks find many reasons to smile in the coming days.
you strike me as an amazingly talented, scarily intelligent, very compassionate woman who has always had insightful things to say on here. I'd like to meet you one day.

A cool off as night descends, people, & I had an amazing experience tonight.
I had to put a dog down for some friends, & as I was talking to them, the husband said "well, you bought her into this world, so it's fitting that you're taking her out" - & he was right : 12 yrs ago, I did a caesarian on the mother dog, & this old creature dying before me was the only surviving pup that I delivered, & I felt a huge wave of karma wash thru me. really, how incredible.
So I gave this lovely old girl her needle as her owners cried & I cried & man, an almost audible click occurred in my brain that this circle was complete. How awesome that this small, individual,unique lifeform was to be started & finished by me.
Into a introspective mood for this evening.
