Morning Undies and Internationalists! so much better getting up at 5ish when you've been to bed at a reasonable hour. Will make sure I eat better today.

I've been making sure I do yoga everyday and feeling better for it but Mr G your post reminded me that I need to slot in some meditation just to quiet my mind...

Thinking of Missy this weekend too. And Rags. And all of us for that matter. Ok, off to finish some work.

        Good Morning one and all.
Bit of an overcast day today which suits my evil purposes perfectly.
Regeneration of the back garden continues after tree fall.
I know Missy will deal with this weekend's challenge with characteristic dignity, especially since evil ex won't be there .......
So what missions are we all on this fine day?
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

            Morning all,

A tad apprehensive here today - there's a 1000ha grass fire about 80km away with no immediate threat to me but it still tends to make you a bit edgy. I was involved in a bushfire many years ago and still remember how quickly things can change. So lets keep fingers crossed that they can contain it and that the wind doesn't pick up.

            catch youse later.

Yikes Frog. Do you have a brush clear perimeter if winds shift? Wishing you the best!

Thanks Techie - yes, I have a totally cleared area of about 3 acres which I regard as my place of 'last resort'. The only thing that could burn there is dry grass less than an inch high. That's why the maniacal mowing during the growing season ... :H:H

I'm apprehensive but not scared at the moment because the temp is only 30C, as opposed to the disgusting 48C we had on Black Friday and there is only a light breeze.

All will be well because I've wrapped myself in Gladwrap. Or should that be tinfoil?

My homemade beans were ok - pretty intense in flavour & needed crockpotting for 18 hrs!!!! But next time i will boil the beans up for a few hrs & thus make the flavour less concentrated & easier to deal with....now soaking the slow cooker as it's black!!

Magpie singing out front, kitten asleep thank goodness, dogs snoozing, OH gone to tennis, me got me time....yay.

My sister in laqw got Ross River afew years ago. She was sick as, and took about 8 months to get over it. She is at Pt Macquarie for a week and so I have been volunteered to look after her dad...who also happens to be Mr Rags dad therefore that makes him my FIL. More on me being the carer later.

Where do you get your blackberries from? I love them but they are a serious noxious weed in NSW. And woolies charges $5 for a shitty little punnet that holds about 10 of them. Needless to say I don’ buy them.

                              How’s that fire going Tawn?

Hello Undies .... just back from the school weekend and I'm totally zorsted!! It was all go from the moment we arrived on Friday, until we dropped boy off early this afternoon. It consisted of swimming sports, taking him out for Indian on Friday night (he's getting a bit bored with school meals), parent-teacher interviews (I didn't attend that one!), parent's lunch, making stuff for parent's lunch, washing up after parent's lunch, whole school athletics competitions, church this morning (it is an Anglican school) morning tea afterwards, and a supermarket trip to stock up on essential personal items (chiefly, toothpaste, deodorant, and chocolate!)

Thank you for all who were thinking of me. I felt your support while I was there. :l I was pretty anxious about the whole thing, but it went much better than I expected. I had practised some strategies to get through the social events, and they went quite well, and I managed to talk to people without feeling a complete fraud . It is a pretty conservative school and most of the parents are heterosexual, married and still together, but I did manage to find a couple of people who I managed to connect with. I'm not convinced that the boy is altogether happy - he says he is, but he seemed very subdued to me. But that might just be because he is still getting used to things and adapting, and also because he is pretty knackered. They work them really hard at the start of the year (up at 6:45am, not much down time, lights out at 9:30) .... I suspect it is a deliberate strategy to keep them occupied, busy, not in trouble and not homesick. It all seems more regimented than I feel comfortable with though. On the other hand, there is a genuine spirit of support and kindness, lots of pastoral care, a sense of encouraging kids to celebrate their successes and achieve their potential, and they have quite a focus on emotions/values/spirituality which I think is good. And for the boy, I think it allows him to spend some time sorting himself out without being forced to choose which parent he lives with

And the evil ex- did come!!. We had wind of the fact last week (and to be honest, if I had just sent my son off to boarding school, I'd want to be there for the first parent-teacher thing too!) and she rang Mr B on Friday to confirm that she would be there and that she wanted some time alone with boy. My anxiety levels were quite high until I worked out whether she was there or not at each event, but it was only really today that we were in close contact. I had decided in advance that if that happened I was going to say hello and introduce myself to her, but all her body language was wrong (studiously looking in the other direction from where I was once she caught sight of me), and I didn't want to do anything that would wreck what had been a weekend that had been much better than expected. So I changed direction and went to where I was going by a different route.

Sorry for the long rave, but it's good to de-brief! And I took this photo for us :H:H There is a whole chain of them in this particular town

Have a zillion things to respond to from all the posts over the last 48 hours, but I'm going to have a bath and a early night. But thinking of all of you coping with hot temps and associated risks, and about all of you dealing with health things.

But, just wanted to say that this .........
