Does anyone have a good remedy for adult acne?? My skin was better when I was drinking and I never thought I would say that. I am drinking water and moisturizing (my skin is very dry as I have gotten older) but I have rosacea and the bumps are all over! The derm gave me a cream and a script for some antibiotic but told me it could mess up my stomach and it could cause weight gain-- since I need neither given my current state the meds are out. I look hideous and that is not helping my mental state about this ultrasound, the liver enzymes etc. help!

ATL, I've been struggling with peri-oral dermatitis a lot lately. I have a standing prescription for doxycycline and a clindamycin solution to apply to the affected area. It's mostly been addressed except for one persistent spot near my bottom left lip. Completely maddening!

They make light treatments ( machine) that you can buy for home and it treats acne, rosacea, scars and wrinkles and has been used in NASA to speed healing in space, it is a Little pricey, about $250 but well worth the money, I use it and my girls do too, helps a bunch. Also is used for pain management. It is a combination red, light with uv plus you can get it with blue to help with severe acne. Gina

Fen- what has your experience been with doxycycline? Are there any horrid side effects like weight gain and is it hard on the liver? I would look into that. The derm pretty much said the redness is hard to make go away-- I had 2 laser resurfacings but they helped only a little and are 350 a piece. Apparently the oral meds take bumps away but not redness and the topical helps redness only a little. I am desperate -- while I work my way down to a decent size I don't want my face to go to hell-/ then no one can say "she has such a pretty face " like they always do for overweight chicks!

Going to hockey tonight. The gall bladder is twinging-- I am praying I don't have an attack- we are meeting another family out there and sAd to say I can guarantee Mark would be an ass if I said we needed to leave and ruined the planned activity-- that is unless tonight was the night I ended up in the hospital with it. Maddening! So I am afraid of eating anything fir fear it will irritate it. Oh well-- enough bitching!

Hello! I'm here! Feeling whiney cause I feel invisible! :H Just kidding, guys, there's so much going on in your lives I feel like a wimp.
G, it's good to see you here, offering good advice. I don't have much on the skin process, I'm just fighting mine getting leathery and wrinkled. And Fen, you're beautiful, so quit stressing over a the spots you've got. ATL, I've said before, it's your self-image that needs the most work, as with all of us. We're so used to being in the wrong, being blamed, we believe it. Hubs has been fussing at me to dress nicer, take better care of myself, my hair, but in his next breath he talks about my spending. A Catch-22, right? So determine to be happy with yourself, and do what your body needs. ATL, do NOT apologize if you are sick and ruin your hubs plans. Go to the hospital if you need to, take care of your health. You worry too much about what people who don't matter think of you, love. I've never seen you, and that's the beauty of this place, but I just know you have a beautiful, strong soul, and have survived horrendous trauma. Work on yourself for yourself, but don't let someone else's perception be your goal. Just yours. You really sound like you need to be in a hospital, and you know what happens if you wait till the weekend to get medical care. And I mean it when I say I will come and help you if you need me. You shouldn't feel so alone in this.
All my bitching aside, my daughter had terrible rosacea when she was pregnant, was very self-conscious of it, (though her husband never mentioned it), and had to be careful about her medication. Have you had your hormones checked? That's what caused hers. But first, take care of your body, your pain. Stress causes terrible flares in any condition. Trust me on that, happens to me a lot. And you do sound stressed. I'm sorry to be so direct, but at my age, I take liberties when I see things that make people I care about unhappy. If you don't still have my numbers, PM me and I'll give them, if you want. Believe in yourself, and help yourself. But I'm here if you need me.

YUM Chocolate cheesecake. Have done youngest daughters taxes, taken some medicine, put some washing up on lines in cellar, taken some more medicine, had an avocado and tomato sandwich, sent some e-mails and am now eating Chocolate cheesecake. YUM !! I will probably be asleep within 15 mins!! LOL

ATL - I have also suffered with perioral dermaitis. The dermatologist gave me a prescription for a gel/cream for MetroGel. It really helped. I know how you feel.
Hope your gall bladder doesn't flare up tonight.

Ok - back to work. Have been dealing with computer issues for the past 4 hours so was taking a little break. Back to it........

Sun, you are an unbelievably strong soldier for your life. LOVE chocolate cheesecake, I'm jealous. But hope you're feeling better, too. You expect so much of yourself.
I'm actually having a wicked day with myself, so many things my docs have urged surgery on and I've passed on are really acting up, and Hubs and I have just had a heart-to-heart. Of course, his takes on reducing my stress are different from mine, but he is a very good man, and he heard me. I will at least go through the most pressing ones (I hope!). It truly is my my fault I've delayed things this long, when I advise others to get the treatment they need. So always take miy (and other) advice with a grain of salt as it pertains to you.
Must feed the bear now, so i'm out.

Well, I have woken from the coma that the cheesecake put me in - actually my daughter came over and she woke me. but I feel yucky and am going to bed. jan - how long is this bug going to hang around for? you got it before me and if you still have it that means I am still going to have it as long as you do. NO I AM NOT. Positive thinking. It will be gone tomorrow. In the meantime - my hot water bottle and my bed are beckoning. Laughed at you saying I am a strong soldier Ruby - if you say so !!! Sorry to hear of your troubles health wise too - yes, I agree with your hubs - you are so quick to tell others that they should get themselves sorted and yet you never listen to yourself do you?? Dear Ruby - get yourself sorted out !! It will pay in the long run. I had to smile today - I had to buy some Tylenol - I don't even have any 'cos I never take it but the headaches with this bug are awful and so I bought some. That and Guaifensin seem to help with the headaches a bit. And the coughing too. Sorry ATL - the pain from gall bladder is far far worse - I need to shut up and be quiet!!

Anyway, enough whingeing. I am going to get to bed. I work mid shift tomorrow so will be around first thing. Hope we are all a lot better tomorrow !! We WILL be right ?? Right !! Good. Hugs to all,
