I just returned from a relaxing weekend at Tick Hollow. Mrs. Fen has a cold, so I went on a solitary hike at Gov. Dodge park and cleared my head a bit...plus, I racked up 81 flights of stairs and 14,000 + steps on the old fitbit! I love the straight uphill type of hiking.

Fen, after ,my fiddle-gidgit cousin, who've I've bailed and promised me first offer, sold our 200 year old farm, I just collapse from grief. Hubs is NOT being supportive, but he will pay. New owner has met my cousins, wants to sell back. Can you say 'Deliverance' So sorry to take up space. Tried to explain to Hubs this a part of my soul/history, and I feel a love and dedication. He doesn't seem to understand anything without an antique motor. No worries, I'll do this myself like I've done in the past.
Biz, sorry about the AL, but don't use it as a crutch, buddy. You probably have vacation rights in Hell, I understand, but you don't want to live there, do you, Mike? There's a hump, and then, your eyes get brighter, your thoughts get clearer, and you know how to deal with the slings and arrows. I saw you speaking on a clip about her arrest, and you were clear, compassionate, and impressive. Hang on to that good stuff, OK?

I have missed all of you so much! Often, I read back to find out what is going on with all of you, but it is so hard for me to type much anymore. I am focusing on my health and studying the Bible these days. I don't want to leave this earth without reading it through and with all that is going on in the world around us, it seems as if we are living in the last days, so I am trying to do some of the things I have put off doing. I hope all of you are doing well. Ruby, I am so sorry about your family land. I know how much your heritage means to you. Bird, I am so happy you got a truck! Sunni and MB, I hope your jobs are less stressful these days. Fen, glad you are having some relaxing times at Tick Hollow. We've had some horrible flu like thing that lasted 6 weeks and it was no fun! We haven't had much cold weather this year and I am wanting to get out and plant the garden as soon as possible. Tay called, JC hasn't been paid the last 2 weeks and they're broke and no food. Told JC to tell his boss I'm on the case, but JC has a new job starting this week for the local KIA factory, 5 days/12 hours, may go to 7, and double the starting salary. Called Hubs over and he gave them $50 to get by, then slipped Tay another 20 just because. They're so in debt to us it silly, but they can't go hungry, be left stranded, and this is another lesson.
Much has happened with the land deal. More to come. But when Tay called and asked her usual 'what 'cha doing', I told her I was trying to stop crying, then why. She just couldn't believe it, and was SO loving, caring, asking questions, offering advice, but she is a strong little soul who doesn't yet believe in herself. The one thing she said that stands out was 'Mimi, I know how this hurts you, and I can't believe they've let it happen.' Don't know her take on that, but when I said I'd rather have the land than a new car, she said she knew. I'm stuggling here, friends. Don't worry, I'll get by this, but it's like the flashbacks of history there just keep hitting me. All I'm drunk on is Diet Coke. This is just grief. Please don't feel it necessary to address it to me. I'll do it. As Tay said, you always do. Thank you all for being here. Sometime there is real drama we have to deal with, not the silly stuff I talk about.

Ruby, this is just so sad for you. I still dream about my home I was raised in but it was just on a suburban block my parents built on themselves with no family history behind it other than that. I can only imagine what it must be like for you to lose such a huge part of your family history and my heart goes out to you. Dear, sweet, strong Ruby, we all understand to a degree how your soul is entrenched in family and your history and partake in your grief. I hope our shared sorrow on your behalf lightens your load just a little.

Mishy, your post has touched me so. I'm sad, mad, grieving, angry, understanding, and vindictive, all at the same time. This is HUGE to me, and Hubs is at his wits end and has stalked off to bed. I'm not asking for anything, I do things on my own, but he just doesn't get the magnitude of this for me. I'm not giving up. Disappointed in my cousin I've dragged along so far, but even Tay says, the next time he wants help.......(well imagaine). He's making plans for a new car with the proceeds. Makes me weep again. The buyer is VERY tentative now, since he's found out the history, and would probably give it up for what he paid in a minute. So, there's tomorrow. Sent word for him to contact me. Oh, and cousin's daughter is STILL with my daughter miles away, but she's now working, they're investigating more education, she helps, and daughter/SIL used some savings to restore her reposessed car. I SHALL refund that. God love good children. Till tomorrow, I'm sorry to be so self interested and not able to respond to you all. Same old me will be back.
