The Journey begins here so get YOUR ASSES IN GEAR!!!! FEBRUARY

Thank you Nora. I really appreciate the kind words. The getaway will be whirlwind but sometimes those are best. After years of issues with my own mom I am just blown away by the kindness of my MIL-- though she is a demanding person at times (somewhat of a drill sargent since she had 7 kids) and can get to slurring after her second scotch-- she genuinely wants to help. And frankly I am so glad that my in laws love seeing our son-- it floors me how much they love at age 76 to have himmstsy over or to visit and keep him so we can get a meal. I think I realized part of it is that my in laws always had a strong relationship apart from their kids so they think it is important. My parents basically had no relationship beyond us though they are still married after 46 years and my moms opinion is she never got to go anywhere so why should we? I just don't get them not coming to see our son or not travel g ever to see me or my sister-- it is not far and even when we arrange to go there my mom comes up with some roadblock -- then tries to guilt us when we did not get past the roadblock she created! MIL has 20 grands but really loves to spend time with each one. It is so nice when others do nice things and go out of the way for you-- I think that may be my Lenten pledge-- to do one random kindness a day.

Hope all is well with each and every one of you. I have to clean out closets in prep for our bathroom redo--so I may get on a tear and just clean out a few extra-- in the mode already!

      Hi all
Having a struggle with going to my welding job these days. A million things need doing here and I just dont wanna go. If gas werent so high I think I'd quit. Gotta go today cuz I didnt go yesterday and have to leave at 12 and take kids to dentist. 15 minutes I should be there and still in my jammies..oh well....Rubes I have the truck. Its an 89 Silverado. We havent had time to mess with it since we havent been home. Do want to get up ther. Want to take the kids to the hike-inn at Unicoi (I think its there). Forces them to spend some time with me without electronics. They will say they hate it but think they will really enjoy the time together. Still have to get tires and brakes. Wanna do Tallulah too and hope we can all coordinate times. Gotta get to the shop...b

The Journey begins here so get YOUR ASSES IN GEAR!!!! FEBRUARY

Good Morning everyone. ATL - so sorry for all your health issues - I feel so blessed that I am healthy - I can't imagine having chronic health problems and yes, I am sure that folk do not understand at all. That was a wonderful present that you gave your hubs - I bet he was just amazed!

Jan - have you been to the doc? Not that they do much for backs do they? But this has been going on for a while now - sorry for your pain!

Ruby - I too do not know how you manage to carry on with all your health issues - I am sure that I couldn't. It must be so stressful for you which if course, causes more stress and you end up with a vicious circle. Hopefully after all these appts this week and next, you can get one or two things under control? The main thing that I see is that you need to try to relax more - of course that is a silly thing to say to you isn't it? anyway hang in there my friend. :l

Hi Nora - Glad that your back is feeling a bit better - I can't imagine cracking my back - the mere thought of it is OUCH. But if it helps, so be it. Shame that you can't still do it. Hope your back is on the mend.

Bird - I do hope that you and Fen will be able to meet up at Ruby's. She really needs someone to hike with!! It would be great if jan could go along for a 3 day weekend too - although I can't see her doing any hiking - LOL

Oh Rubes - I am going to England on the 12th March for 2 weeks, coming back the 26th. As for the comment about you fitting in a suitcase or an animal crate - I did laugh!! :H I will be seeing both aunts this time as well as all my sibs and my mum. SO looking forward to it. Youngest daughter will be coming over to sort of stay and help with the dogs as Hubs works shifts and is gone for very long stretches at a time.

Roger - I am so sorry I missed your birthday - I hope it was a good one? It is hard to keep up with birthdays in my life here, let alone on line too - LOL Hope all is well with you and that Sue is good too. :l

Hi to everyone else - I am going to get my day started - slept in til 7.00 this morning.

          Hugs, Sun X

            Morning, peeps.
Mrs. Fen has a cold, and is making an obnoxious grunting sound. She sounds like Arnold Ziffel from Green Acres! Anybody remember him?

Oh, you all don't know how you lift me. I'm pro-active with problems, all but my health, but I'm knuckling down now. Have lot's of options on the grid. JC's trying to get time off to drive me, and don't know which car (NOW Hubs is afraid for us to go in the new one till we're used to it.) He frets a lot over stuff. I know I'm a lucky woman. Emotions and strife hurt me more these days than my health.
ATL, your MIL sounds wacky and wonderful. Enjoy that. Your own mother is entrenched in her behavior, it seems, so make things on your own terms. You are a hero to me with what you've survived and overcome, and your son understands that. Don't sweat the small stuff, honey. Most stuff is, you know. You (again) have a great life, and what you did for himself's BD was perfect, and it took time and love to do. You know now I'm nearby, and will help you any way I can.We HAVE to meet one day. I know you're beautiful already , so don't give a second thought to looks. I rarely wear makeup anymore, and I'm having my hair done because Tay has pushed me, as soon as I can fit it in.
Please, everyone, don't worry about me. Nothing has changed except my doc's opinions. I will enjoy and endure every minute, and work towards getting things good in my world. And don't treat me any differently except to understand my stamina, and I'm working on that! I was just sharing my day.
Fen, I can send you lots more to rev your hiking engine. YES, I'd love J to come and keep me company. There's a fabulous 3 story historic house at the mill that is filled with hundreds of different dealer's antiques. I never come out empty-handed, and I lost my sister in there for a whole day. When my daughter chose her Senior trip, with her best friend, they chose to go to a nearby area (2 boys who are now very successful artists) went too, platonically. They chose a horseback ride down a river with an overnight stay, trout fishing (I STILL can't believe she and Kara cooked those trout that night!) so there's something for everyone who's not looking for glitz. I'll send you more links, OK?
Bird, truck sounds great. Yes, drag the girls along. If they won't hike, they're stuck with me, so it's a tough choice, right? :H They'll quickly choose you!
Have to leave shortly, AGAIN, but then I have 2 days off. Love you all and I'm sorry I've been so behind on checking in with each of you. I'm still me, but working on being a better me.

Just got that "aura" thing that proceeds a migraine--aaarrrgggh! I am supposed to take medicine right now to make it work-- but I have a list a mile long to get to today and that stuff puts me out. I am about to say screw it though-- sleeping is the only way to lick the headache-- the vanity and clost can be cleaned out later tonight before the workers get here tomorrow-- I can't sleep with them around so I better try to do it today. Hubs can keep that disapproving look to himself-- he does not get migraines so what does he know? (hee)

Rubes-- I know the feeling of shoving or wanting to shove health stuff to the back burner. To me dealing with all those doctors and the health stuff felt more like dying and less like living-- and I want to live life with some normalcy not at a doctors office if I can help it!

Mama-- thought about you last night-- didn't you have gastric bypass. Intervention was about a lady who had it and did not start drinking alot till after. Don't know if there are similarities but she was also a very pretty lady after her weight loss-- do not know how much you lost etc but it seems that I read Carnie Wilson also turned to drinking after her :eeks::eeks:gastric bypass. I am sorry about your back-- my FIL has bad back issues and he is in so much pain. Is this chronic or does it come and go?

Fen-- I love all your references! I can tell from the boards and from Our emails that you are very smart. And certainly witty! Is your knee all better?

Sun-- we leave for the UK on August 28. Travel agent said it was pretty much too early to do lots of the

I did get a good fare ATL - I always take for ever actually booking it and try different web sites but yes, I did get a good deal. I have just been booking my train tickets too, for the different places I will be having to go - they are at least a third of the price that I will pay if I wait until I get there. I have just booked three tickets that cost me a total of 74 pounds that would have cost 243 pounds had I bought them at the station in UK. But you obviously have to know where you are going on which day! I too get that aura sometimes - but the odd thing is that it never goes to a migraine - just get the aura which is sort of neat once you know what it is.......and you don't get the headache! Hope yours doesn't go to a migraine. What part of UK are you going to? How long are you going for?

I need to get going.... off to do stuff,

                          hugs, sun X

ATL- my back comes and goes.....I usually pull it when I do something...this time I was picking up a towel.....stupid, huh?
But takes about a week to get over it and the only thing that really works it to be still and stay on a heating pad. That's hard b/c I work full time and I have a physical job....but my boss knows and is ok with it...I am on a conference call now, as a matter of fact.
Sun- I am so thrilled you are going home......last time you went you came back soooooooooo happy!!
yep- this girl will do no hiking...you know me well. I will stroll, however!!
Rubes - you actually got a new car?? What kind??
ok...better go pay attention to this call

ATL, check Clark Howard's site for good fares. He once had a round tip to Ireland for $499. That's unless you want to travel 'princess' style.
I ditched the appointment, went and got Tay and since she STILL doesn't drive (lots of reasons) I picked her up and let her drive me in my Sportster home, only a few country miles. She loved it. Mad gets her learner's this year, and she and I drive up and down our dead-end road when she's here in Goldie. Tay want's to take her test in it, and Mad says it's SO easy to drive. I'm going to take them to the farm and work with them to get them ready. Tay is here cleaning like a fairy, and I slept FOREVER after I called in and switched appointment. I love my girls, they always come through for me, and I do for them.
ATL, Topomax is also prescribed for migraines, and it completely quashes my cravings. I'm not sure what your doc has you on, but I'll talk to my daughter who has them, and she never slows down so I'm sure with her med background she can give me some info. There are a lot of new things out there that won't affect you so I hope you're doc is up-to-date on them, hon. Again, we need to talk. But you are doing remarkably well with your med history, so just keep learning, OK? I'd ask my family to set fire to the house here now before they let a guest in!! :H
MB, are you considering coming when Fen is here? I SO hope you can. You are a carnival in yourself, dear girl!! I love having a host of people so no one has to play alone. And Fen, tell J I promise to keep her entertained, or not. If we have rain, piling up in the girl's room feather bed under a tin roof without worries is heavenly!!
Sunny, I promise to send you a gift soon. It's just not 'right' yet, and I'm overly critical of my work. It should reflect the heart of the subject, you know? I'm so excited about your trip! The last surprise you gave your mother was priceless and timeless, a perfect moment for you both. You are so thoughtful to do these things for your family that will last. I have been the one to do those things, in the past, and now it's hard for me to get back there. There are so many, and time is short in many ways. Can't wait to see your new pics and here a report back. So, I guess you're not taking me in the animal carrier, huh?
Tay's gonna teach me all the gizmos on my new car tomorrow. Teenagers are wonderful when they're not being tragic!
Gotta get busy. Tay's in the kitchen rattling pans so have to go do my part. Love you all. And I'm about to go take my meds, friends.
Bird, when you're ready for chickens, I'll get you some. For now, just plan to come and hike, and have a getaway. I KNOW you'll bring your tent, and May is a good time to pitch it on the stream. Would be really great to go fishing with you guys. I have the equipment, even hip-waders. TMB loves to fish too!
