Thank you Nora. I really appreciate the kind words. The getaway will be whirlwind but sometimes those are best. After years of issues with my own mom I am just blown away by the kindness of my MIL-- though she is a demanding person at times (somewhat of a drill sargent since she had 7 kids) and can get to slurring after her second scotch-- she genuinely wants to help. And frankly I am so glad that my in laws love seeing our son-- it floors me how much they love at age 76 to have himmstsy over or to visit and keep him so we can get a meal. I think I realized part of it is that my in laws always had a strong relationship apart from their kids so they think it is important. My parents basically had no relationship beyond us though they are still married after 46 years and my moms opinion is she never got to go anywhere so why should we? I just don't get them not coming to see our son or not travel g ever to see me or my sister-- it is not far and even when we arrange to go there my mom comes up with some roadblock -- then tries to guilt us when we did not get past the roadblock she created! MIL has 20 grands but really loves to spend time with each one. It is so nice when others do nice things and go out of the way for you-- I think that may be my Lenten pledge-- to do one random kindness a day.
Hope all is well with each and every one of you. I have to clean out closets in prep for our bathroom redo--so I may get on a tear and just clean out a few extra-- in the mode already!
