    February Free

Hi Febbers. I'm doing a mid-day pop in. ML, that is SO great! Isn't it a powerful feeling to know without a doubt that you aren't going to drink today? I'm happy for you. :l

Mama, I'm sorry. I don't know what to say. It's what we do, until we stop doing it. I hope your 30 starts today. :l

I agree that our health system is atrocious. It is what it is.

Busy day here because as soon as I got off my tush, my energy started returning.

Gotta run. Hope everyone has a good afternoon.

        Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the well wishes. Mama, sending you strength. I can certainly understand - just don't stop quitting.

Ginger - thanks we are on the same path now.

Nora - thanks so much for the advice. All the advice I receive here is invaluable and will be the key to my kicking this thing eventually!

UW - you are right. I don't know why I never considered antabuse before. There have been loads of members who started out using it and had success and now only use it as a backup. That's my plan.

Have a fantastic AF weekend all.

Hello February Freebies... everyone still on track? MyLife... congrats on getting your Antabuse! It really did help me over that initial hurdle... like the first month. Just remember to TAKE it, ok? (Coming from one who often 'forgot' to take her pill).

Mama.. sorry you caved. Have you got a plan for when the next 4 days off roll around?

I'm off off and away for the weekend, long weekend here... see you all next week! :hallo:

Nora, thanks for that synopsis. Just curious, do you think of drinking when your husband is going to be out of town because he doesn't want you to drink? I'm always interested in the "other half" aspect because it does affect the big picture of how we handle alcohol. Mine just always goes along with what I decide about it but sometimes I wish he were a little more adamant about my not drinking. I wouldn't want to be dictated to but I guess I'm saying it would be good if he felt strongly that I shouldn't drink. I believe we have to do this for ourselves, just curious about how your husband feels.

Mama, I thought you were taking Antabuse, no? If so how could you drink last night? Did you plan way ahead and stop the pills? This is so hard.....ugh. I hate alcohol. We always feel like we're missing out on something when we're really not, so frustrating that our brains could be this dichotomized. I'm looking forward to the day when I barely remember it (hoping anyway).

Ginger, ML, Sun, K9, Sunshine D, and any other Febbers dropping by, have a super evening.

UW - My husband is worried for my health (with good reason!!). He is trying so hard to be supportive. But, he can't stand for me to continue hurting myself. So, I think that for me.....why I am feeling tempted while he is gone is that I can do it without seeing his sadness/anger/etc. It's so hard to analyze because it's so twisted up in my head. But, i am going to try to keep on the pill! I will keep coming here & hanging on.

Nora, got it. I really like understanding the dynamics of people's lives and how they intertwine with al/spouses/significant others, etc. Well, I hope you continue on the sobriety path. We just think we want to drink but really the curtain has been pulled back and we know it has nothing but misery to offer. We have to remember that we romanticize it greatly!

Thanks Nora, I struggled a little today, but I'm over it! And it looks like you're on target to get 30 under your belt pretty quickly!

Pulled a real no-brainer today. While walking in to sign a contract, I used a spray breath freshener. Didn't even think about it until I was sitting down in the lady's office. Happily, there was no reaction.

I hope everyone has a good Friday night.

Ginger - when I first started on it, I had to have blood taken. I was so scared that I had the nurse use iodine instead of alcohol on my arm. :H:H Now, I've used alcohol swabs on an open wound with no problem.

Hello everyone. Haven't been around for awhile to post but have been stopping by here and there to read. I have been working A LOT and have not been in the mood to post. I am still AF since 12-31-11 and am finding it not that difficult, at least right now. I do not want to become complacent and am remaining vigilant for triggers. Right now I am tapering off Klonopin and that is my focus while remaining AF. Hope everyone is doing well and achieving their goals for February. Hard to believe that March is just around the corner!! Looking forward to the spring and getting outside more often, I find the Sun a potent ally. ~~~ health & strength to ALL ~~

Hello guys. Up early and unhungover. It feels so great.

I had such a nice evening last night with my nephew and my hubby. We played "kid" games and laughed a lot and just had a great time. My sister wasn't too thrilled to find her son still awake at close to midnight when she got home...but we were having such a great time I think she overlooked that it was way past bedtime!! AF nights are the best.

UW - it is interesting seeing how people deal with this with their non-AL families. It's a challenge for sure.
Sunshine GG - great to hear from you. Thanks very much for your advice on antabuse it helped with my decision.
Ginger, Sunshinedaisies, Nora - glad to hear you're all doing well. Ginger LOL about the breath spray!
Hypernova - I remember you - so happy to hear you've been successfully AF.

Anyone who hasn't read Timpin's post in the Newbies area should take a look. Very inspirational.
