GOOD for you Bird taking the half a pill! Yeah - you sounded a bit worried about yesterday so am so pleased that you took it! You must just take it as long as you need it - even if it means taking the odd 1/2 pill when you are doddering around with a walker!!! LOL

Hi everyone! Hope you are all doing just really well today!!

UW - if you feel that you might slip, then it is good to have some Antabuse on hand - I have some in my drawer that I have never touched - but it is THERE! I think I am too scared to take it though.....

Scottish lass - never a failure! Just get back right on that horse! And succeed again! you know what they said about Robert The Bruce right??

off to get ready for work.....

        Hugs, sun X

            Hello All,

I've been struggling in February. I can't seem to string together more than a few AF days and then I cave. I've decided to start Antabuse - and I'm wondering if there are any online resources you know of or do I need to make a Dr. appt etc... (sigh)

I am at wits end. :upset:

MyLife, one of the financial supporters of MWO is River Pharmacy. You can get antabuse there:

              https://www.riverpharmacy.ca/index.php

Edited to add: The medication comes from India. You could also go through a doc or a clinic.

Thanks. I made an appt with a counselor I've seen before who perscribed Naltrexone for me last year. (Did not work for me). I'll ask her if she can prescribe antabuse. If not, then I'll order online.

                            Good Morning Febbers,

MyLife, I PMd you yesterday from my phone, so the message was probably crazy with weird spelling and punctuation! I used Siri, the voice activation tool, which is just so cool that I can now say I'm officially in love with an inanimate object. Anyway, just in case you didn't get the message, I ordered from River Pharmacy.

Nora, hope you're feeling better and still experiencing your lessening of cravings. I had dinner out last night, watched lots of people drinking my old favorite, but did okay. I ordered a coke immediately upon sitting down, so the sugar helped. The bad thing about it was that it really quelled my appetite, so I don't think I enjoyed the food as much....but, definitely the lesser of the evils!

Mama, how long have you been taking Antabuse? Can you elaborate on how much you take, etc?

SL, how is it going.........the re-starting of being AF? Are you finding it more difficult, or is it about the same as before? I know you're disappointed, but I'm wondering if the fall gave you more resolve to stay sober or made it harder.

Ginger, I didn't realize that one of the MWO financial supporters was River Pharmacy. I will definitely do any ordering from them, then. That's where I got my Antabuse. I've often thought that we're so lucky to have this site for free! I've thought about becoming a member just to support the site. I think it's really inexpensive, but from what I remember, there's not much that comes with it so I never saw a reason to join. Still thinking on that one.

Well, off to do daily stuff everyone. Have a super AF day!!

DAY 85 here......can't believe I'm approacing 3 months sober. Can't wait to be able to say a year!

                            :lilheart:

                              Good Morning everyone!

UW - I too, have often wondered about joining but also couldn't really see a reason - although a good reason would be to support the site, so I think I might just do that today!! That is awesome that you are approaching 3 months - doesn't it feel wonderful? I still enjoy waking up and feeling really clear headed - I never drank enough to be hungover but still had enough to know that I had had a drink so it is nice to wake up and jump out of bed with lots of energy!!

Nora - hope you are feeling better - I am - it took a while unfortunately though - are you still going to your parents? Good for you on the AF days - you are taking the Antabuse - right? Did you try the L-Glut for the cravings?
SL - when you slipped this time - what caused it? Can you see where it came from? can you get a plan in place to stop it happening again? I had to have a plan before I quit - every eventuality was covered! LOL But it worked for me......
Hi Jan - good that you took the Antabuse!! :l
                              Bird - good morning !!
Mylife - the Antabuse really can help - it doesn't stop the cravings - as I have said - L-Glut really helps with those (well, it did for me) but once the antabuse is in your system, you just can't drink! Stay here - lots of support !
Hi Ginger - lovely to have more of us here - I love seeing all of the support on this thread - it is SO hard and just reading this web site helps so much.... how do I wean off of this site now? LOL

                              Hugs to all,

Unwasted, River is the only one allowed to advertise here and I'm assuming they pay for the privilege. I agree that it's amazing that we get this site for free. I have thought about becoming a member too. Still thinking about it.

This may seem like a silly question but I have not found any definitive answer, so I'll ask you folks. Is it OK to take antabuse when you are using a nicotine patch? I wouldn't think it would different than wearing a band-aid.
