    February Free

I'll join the Feb Free crowd. It's too late me for me to have an AF February but I will be going on antabuse in the next week. I too admire the strength and support of people here.

      HEY ALL FEBBERS

Just reading this morning and wanted to chime in as usual.

I like the month to month thing, though I did have that dreadful slip in January.

Also NURSIE-I liked your description of what you knew would happen-playing out that scenario that was sure to unfold. I like to do that; I find it helpful. Just imagine how it will turn out, and it is a good deterrent. As I was making the turn into my neighborhood last night I was thinking MY GOD-how many times i've made this turn drunk and going way too fast. Grateful to be here.

And the book Quiet we talked about is very good. I recommend it. I was a loud mouthed fake extrovert when drinking and now find solitude wonderful. Very well-researched book.

I will be going to my hometown the weekend of 3/9 for a long weekend to see 2 brothers and a sister, and an ex brother-in -law that I love. I haven't been there since 5/07 and don't miss one thing about it. My ex husband and his wife are there;of course I won't be seeing them. Unless there's some cruel twist of fate and they happen to be out to dinner where I am/ But what are the odds? I'm laughong about this-I really don't care. The woman has my sympathy.

Everyone have a terrific sober weekend!

Febber Fall - slipped on Friday, posted in the nest. February will not be AF for me, but Jan and Dec were.
Taking this ODAT and counting up all the one days. I have had success and I am not a failure for slipping.
If I drink one day in Feb, I will consider that success...
Back on the horse, day 2 is here...

                          Just Ordered Antabuse

                          Guys,

I just ordered Antabuse to have on hand for "emergency" situations. Can you tell me how far ahead of time it has to be taken? Also, dosage, and how long you're "in danger" if you drink after taking it?

I feel pretty strong right now, but I read about so many people falling off the wagon.............I know I need it for vacationing, maybe parties, high risk stuff.

                          Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi everyone. Sorry I didn't get back here.

MB & Bird - think it's a wise decision about the antabuse.

Caper - Congratulations on 30 days!!! I agree - I haven't had much luck doing it without the antabuse and really respect people that are able to just STOP. i only get short periods of time under my belt.

Scottish Lass - I agree it is One Day At a Time. Glad you are here. :h

Unwasted - As soon as you take that pill, you CAN NOT drink. Period! So, if you have it with you and you start feeling that urge, swallow the pill. Then, the mind games will stop because you won't be able to drink. I tried drinking 6 days after I stopped taking it and developed a horrible red rash all over my face & chest. You need to wait at least 10 days before you drink. So, once that pill is swallowed, you know you can't drink.

Well - today is Day 5 for me. First time in months that I made it to Day 5, so I'm happy about that.

                            Have a great day/evening everyone. :l

Nora, thanks for the info. I know Bird takes 1/4 or 1/2 pill. How do you take yours? Sorry, you may have posted that, but didn't see it and can't remember. I'll also check out the meds thread to see what they say there.

                              Thanks!

p.s. Just did a search and found that you take 1/2 pill every other day but start out with a whole one to make sure it's in your system.

UW if I take 1/2 on Sunday morn It will be fri. night before I can drink. I have tried earlier but get the rash like Nora. When I first started messing around with it I would set the timer. Drink a few sips and if nothing happened I would drink some more. Was afraid to down a whole one all at once. Think it may be a bit different for everyone so be careful.
