    Just Like a Swimming Pool.

    Dear Louise!
    Wow. What an inspiration!!
I'am new here, my first day infact. Just what I needed. Thank you very much!
I find that people who strugle with an alcohol problem are the most beautiful human being on Earth. Helpful and honest, understanding the human condition.
This analogy is so to the point!
    Congratulations and Thank You!
    Lots of love,
    Agatha

Loved the message and I'm brand new...

I went to the Dr. today, ordered the CDs and bought the supplements. So I'm all but ready --- except, my Dr. said he wated to check further the Topamax and see if It interferred with my blood pressure medication, etc. He mentioned another medication he had heard of from the "Forest Co.???" Anyone heard of tha? Anyway, I'm still waiting and don't know exactly wht to do. I did take the supplements today, but now I'm ready for a glass of wine!!

Any suggestions for a newby???? I don't really know how this board all works, so forgive me if I goof up.

Welcome dac222. Looks like you are ready for the shallow end. You can start without the topa - not everyone here takes it - and add it when you get your dr. to agree. For me the drink tracker has really helped (bottom of the forum page, click on then log in).

            Great thought.

Wow, that really gave me hope, because I'm definitely on the shallow end right now dipping my feet. Since I'm a competitive swimmer in "real life" maybe I can jump in the deep end with this addiction, too.

            Thank you!

Hi Berly and welcome to MWO... I'm so glad it meant something to you and I hope it will really help you... By joining MWO and taking your first few " strokes " you are already on your way to the deep end, don't take it too quickly though, just go at your own speed and take it one day at a time, sometimes take it one hour at a time, and don't forget, come on here daily if you can, even if you don't post anything, read the other posts and they will help and encourage you, and don't forget, WE ARE ALL HERE TO SUPPORT YOU THROUGH THE GOOD AND THE BAD..

                I wish you success,

                Love from Louise xxx

                      Louise, Thank you.
Your swimming pool analogy has encouraged me to 'dip' my toe in the water. I only registered a few moments ago and feel scared to make this first step, but deep breath and hopefully I will bob up and move from the shallow end one day!

                              Just Like a Swimming Pool.

Hi everyone! I love the swimming pool analogy. I am not sure where to jump into the pool this terrific forum - or where I will land, but, here goes. This is my first post and I am putting in my first 'splash'.

I am in recovery - 20 years - and in the alcohol and addiction field. I hope to make a contribution to this forum as well as to learn a great deal for myself personally and to help others still suffering from this problem. As I read more, I am aware that we are in so many different places. Some are trying to figure if they have a problem and how much of a problem if any, others recognize there is a problem and are beginning to ask for guidance, others are looking for specific medications or treatment modalities and others are working more on their maintenance or 'spiritual' path. This was not meant to be a comprehensive summary, but merely to re-state how different we all are and how our paths are unique adventures.

That's probably enough for now. I truly look forward to my time on this forum.

My thanks to you all, DrMike
