I am concerned. While Dr Mike may well be a great resource, this is not the place to drum up business. The blog address should not be included on the signature if the main purpose of directing traffic towards the blog is commercial gain. It's just not right - at least not without RJ's approval.

Yes, Dr Mike - Not meaning to sound so harsh, but advertising is not allowed on the site without site admin approval. Sigs directing traffic towards commercial sites (even if it is a blog with lots of good info) definitely cross the line.

I am sure you have a great deal of information to contribute to this forum, so I do look forward to reading your posts!

Dr Mike are you here for help or are you here to sell your services? What is your motivation exactly?

I am confused because you are using your doctor status and showing your website for your treatment options that are not free. If you are 20 years alcohol free why are you here? Sounds like you are preying on us to make some cash.

There are tons of doctors and lawyers and other professionals here but they don't tout it, they are just here like everyone else. What you are doing sounds like an infomercial to me. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yes Camps - and 900 bucks to merely counsel another physician HOW to prescribe Naltrexone sounds steep to me. Skilled reading is a prerequisite for medical school, so most docs should be able to read the prescribing information themselves. Is there a reason that a competent physician would need such intense assistance? I have never heard anyone complaining that physicians are reluctant to prescribe that medication, so I am confused.

It does appear possible that the most prized information to be learned from MWO members is their credit card information. Too bad. It would be great if you stuck around and helped people out for free, though. You must have a lot of knowledge to share.

Hi, gang. Thanks for contacting me and keeping an eye on the board.

Yes, Dr. Pearlman (Dr. Mike) has been in touch with us and I encouraged his participation as both a recovered alcoholic and clinician. As I understand he maintains an active practice in which he has experience prescribing baclofen, as well as a blended therapy of baclofen, naltrexone and Campral. I felt this would be of significant interest to our members because we don't hear a lot about this particular medication and/or mix. In addition, Dr. Pearlman supports controlled drinking as a therapeutic approach, which is rather unusual in addiction treatment. I felt he would have valuable personal and professional insight to offer. And of course everyone is welcome here to address both short and long term drinking issues.

I apologize for not providing an introduction beforehand--I think that's why the confusion. I've also emailed Dr. Pearlman to explain the sensitive nature of how a signature file may create the appearance of commercialization. As he said, he contacted us beforehand regarding protocol, but this is a detail we didn't cover. I don't believe his intention was to sell his services but to provide context about his practice.

Thanks for keeping an eye on the board and please join me in welcoming Dr. Pearlman. I'm sure he'll be happy to answer questions and provide feedback about his experience in addiction treatment.

Thank you, RJ, for the introduction - and everyone, for your advice. Please note I have edited my earlier posts - I trust that my 'signature' is ‘in order’. I would love to be of value to this forum and speak to those recovery issues that I am personally and professionally familiar with - and learn about those that I am not familiar with. I have already received a private email and am delighted to respond - please, understand, that I can not offer any specific medical or psychiatric advice or direction to any individual situation, for that you would need to rely on your care givers. However, I can and will address situations in general and share experiences I have had in the areas of my 'expertise'.

Dear Dr. Mike, There are many of us in MWO who could add their http similarly to you, in order to solicit business or enquiries for their products or services, but don't because of the unwritten courtesy extended between all members of MWO .
So, how about you don't try to solicit business from this site (for free).
If people here need your assistance, they'll find your site, just as they found this site.
It would really be appreciated if you would further modify your MWO identifier by removing the blog address.
