    Just Like a Swimming Pool.

    Hey you Irish Lady

      Just Like a Swimming Pool.

These are older posts, but still SO very relevant in my own life. I think I will don my one-piece suit and bring my daughter me for a dip next weekend. I believe that water is healing, whether you take it
      inside or out...

I loved the analogy of the swimming pool. I hope that everyone will have the courage to go through it even if they fail. I was wondering though if it helps that a person thinks of the deep end of the pool as another achievement or an obstacle that need to be conquered. Is it not all by how we see things? I have just started classes in meditation, and I have tried to meditate on how I lived my life the past years. Although I get distracted a lot, I know with practice I will gain the concentration I will need, just like the swimmer at the end of the pool. Thanks very much for this! I became inspired

I just wanted to "bump" this for those who look for new posts.

Irish Lady hasn't been here for a while. Not because she relapsed but because she found her way out.

I think her analogy is wonderful.

This was very insightful!! I'm in the shallow part of the pool swimming around ,I'm comfortable and happy. But I'm ignoring the deep end for now!! I hope that's not a bad omen!

great analogy. I go off alcohol a few days each week but the rest of the days i allow myself to get wasted. I'm wishy washy about quitting cuz i get really depressed when i'm sober. I wish i had the determination you guys have.

I'm so excited to have found MWO and particularly this thread. I didn't even know how long I have been looking for a good swimming pool and it appears I have found the warmest, most inviting and supportive pool in the neighborhood. Seeing how I find myself at the edge of the shallow end I figure I might as well put my first foot in and see how it feels. Thanks to Irishlady for this amazing analogy and to all the supportive posters. You have filled me with hope.
