Bird, leave that child here a week and she'll be swimming. I've taught everyone from my 40-y/o son down!! Eventually, they HAVE to get their faces wet. And I know she's in a sensitive stage, but this isn't about fashion, but safety. My boys learned at 4 and 5, and the rest of the kids were similar, so she needs to do it now!

Hi all......sorry I haven't been around much.....still fighting my stomach problems. I've had a Dr's appt for a few weeks so I finally get to see her on Monday. I've been a little worried what they will find but now I'm ready to go.

Glad you had a good day off Mama. You deserve it. :h

Bird - has your daughter tried to learn to swim? I wouldn't let them go kayaking either.

Rubes - had to laugh about your dreams! :H You take it easy and just relax. Enjoy the cabin.
Sun - sounds like you are getting back to normal. Hard after a vacation. We missed you though. :l

So good to see you Nora. WHY did it take a couple of weeks to get in to docs? You need a nice rest too, baby. That's the beauty of knowing your docs, they'll see you quickly. I know that sounds smirky to people, specially those not in the US, but my only experience is with my docs who I cultivated relationships with over the years, AND with their nurses who are more important in getting you in quickly. When you've got good ones, you work on it so there's a relationship. You might call it brown-nosing, but when you or your family is sick, it pays off. Mine and Hub' GP is a country neighbor, and we went to school with his nurse, so I flagrantly use the connection when we're sick. So shoot me, or hate me, but we get in quickly. Being older and having connections does have its benefits.
Called my cousin who's manager of the tag office, and I don't have to go in, she's mailing me an extension dealer's tag. If our stuff doesn't come to get a real one in 30 MORE days, I'm jumping on the dealership.

Rubes-- I will Pm you with details-- I hope the preventive will alleviate a lot of the pain but until I build up the level it won't. 5 pain pills a month won't do it for the existing headaches. I may have discomfort from my other maladies but I really just seek relief from the head pain.

MB-- you are so pretty!! I like your librarian glasses !

Sun-- Got a book that breaks down places to go based on my favorite (Tudor period). Had a huge section on the tower and spending most of the day there. I intend to do it. Not sure how much money we should plan to spend when we are in Ireland and London. Hubs asked me and I just have no concept. Better get the guidebooks out.... I know we will drop a mint at the Gordon Ramsey restaurant.

Better get to bed. I slept 2 hours last night -- that is not enough!

Gosh ATL, hope you got some sleep...Nora sorry you are still having tummy trouble, hope it isnt anything mush..it takes weeks to get appts with some of these docs here. My solonoscopy appt rescheduled till May!...my kid has tried to swim and was a little til they got "too old" to go to the pool with me. ...made 16$ again at the hoedown last night. Goober and Gomer werent there, just the others..the lady who runs the thing found a pic of me playing drums there and the kids were standing nest to me and they were babies hahaha...we are going to get my kid a tablet and they are getting ready...later

Good Morning Bird! Yes, it can take weeks for me to get a Doc appt too! Good job I rarely go....... I saw the vid of your daughter - she is good - so I voted! Nora - hope the doc appt goes well for you - gosh, what a pain - awful when you have something bothering you for so long isn't it? I hope they sort it out....... :l Thanks Jan for changing your avatar - much appreciated! That was very rude of Ruby with her comment !! LOL Cute picture! ATL - glad that you have found a good book - I think the rest of your time, a wander round the back streets of London is always good - such history and architecture! I like walking along the Thames too...... Ruby - when are you and hubs leaving for the cabin? Is it just the two of you going? And for a whole week?

Morning everyone. Need to go in to work. I hate missing work and having to deal with the looks/thoughts/etc of me taking off from my boss & his daughter (who is my boss now too). I don't just miss because I want to. AAARRRGGGGHHH
Anyway - I could have gone in earlier and seen a different Doctor. But, I wanted to see my own Doctor so I've had this scheduled. It's probably just IBS or something but it's been getting worse for the past several months. We shall see.
Well, guess I'd better start getting ready for work.

Tony, my cousin gave me a pair of panties for my bridal shower I believe 6 people could get into. Told him I'd hang to them for the future (this was 41+ years ago) and I could STILL get 6 mes in them!
Had a terrible day yest. The next med my doc tried on me dropped my BP, but I was absolutely drunk from it! I remember a past doc who told me he could take my BP down immediately, but I wouldn't be able to walk out. I dismissed it since he's also the one who wanted to give me a pelvic exam on my first visit! :wow: But I think this is the stuff he was talking about, and it's CRAP! Trying to get this stuff regulated.
Sorry for sounding so like I know everything about appointments. It has a lot to do with insurance, I understand. But I've never dealt with long waits, at least in decades, because I do the things I mentioned. It's hard for me to imagine doctors are that busy they can't get sick people in. That's why the ERs are so busy, people just dropping in. But that care is just for emergencies, though an ER nurse told me Friday-Sunday nights are their busiest, when people know the regular docs are closed, and they can't refuse treatment, or demand payment up front. Won't get political, but I COULD! :H
Bird, I voted. Hope you enjoy your shopping trip. That's my version of hell, shopping with teens, but it's SO nice you have the cash to do something you can all enjoy for a long time. As I said, you know my door is open, and it would only cost you gas.
ATL, I guarantee you'll love Kevin. As long as you follow his rules (not drug shopping at different pharmacies and docs, reporting all the meds you take for ailments, etc.) he'll be the most sympathic doc you ever met. He moved to North ATL from my hometown, though he still lives here. Sometimes we get talking so long his nurse comes in to remind him he has people waiting. He also has a surgical arena where he can do injections for chronic back and other pains, and I had it once. He keeps telling me I should have them again, but I try hard to stay away from over-medicating. And he's a big advocate of not becoming addicted to pain meds. I take less than a third of my daily prescribed dose99% of the time. He's a great guy, and very empathetic. People like us are his specialty, and he treats us seriously and respectfully. His partner, Dr. Orr, is also a sweet, very nervous though, guy I see in a pinch. Think I scare him!!
Dang, Sun, when do you get another day off again?? You REALLY need to rest up. After all, travel and jet lag always get harder as we 'age'.

I had th WEIRDEST dream last night. I worked in a funeral home, and the military delivered a soldier's body. After they left, the coffin opened and the guy started moving, moaning. Me and somebody were trying to get out, when he got out of the box and started staggering around. Someone came in and doused him with gas, set him on fire, and I woke to his muted groans with Katherine Hepburn holding someone prisoner, only to find Hubs had left the kitchen TV on. There was a Japanese movie playing, with terrible moans coming out. LAWDY!! GOTTA git offa this med!!! I'm getting crazier!!
