    MARCH MOTIVATORS

    ML congrats on 30! :goodjob:

Ginger, you're going to have to post kitchen pics when it's finished. Take care - suppose the cramps are from doing physical work on the kitchen?

Blonde, K9, SL and anyone dropping by today - sending us all peace and strength! :lilheart:

      MARCH MOTIVATORS

Woo hoo Mylife! 30 days is awesome!!! Way to go!

My little moody child was ok last night then today she got grumpy again. I'm chalking it all up to being hormonal and 14 years old...and it will pass! Of course I over-dramatize it and think the worst like "suicidal" but that's because of all the news reports we hear these days of kids being pushed over the edge by bullying, etc. So I just need to take a step back and remember that I was moody too when I was her age! We'll get past this...and hopefully we'll both survive. LOL

UW - Good luck on your first challenge...I am sure you will fly through it unscathed, but it's good to know you have the AB "just in case". AB has saved my arse and I'm not ashamed to admit it!

Ginger - Sorry about your sleeping problems! About 3 months ago I got a new mattress, but prior to that, I was in agony every night...it was like sleeping on a bag of rocks...so I know all about the aches and pains! I posted in the Nest that I did wake up at 3am this morning, I think I went to bed a tad too early last night (8:30 LOL). At least I didn't wake up with the Guilt/Shame/Regret of days gone by...and I'm so thankful for that!

Blonde, SL, WW, Mama Bear (where's she been?), and everyone else that my little brain doesn't allow me to remember, I hope you have a wonderful day and stay strong. We are at the half-way mark of March already...and yes Blonde, it's so good we didn't waste it on drinking!

      Later my peeps!

        MARCH MOTIVATORS

Well my daughter just texted me from school and told me she's sad, scared and confused. So I immediately called to get her into a counselor. I got the approval through insurance and was able to talk to the counselor directly. She sounds very warm and caring, and she told me she uses a "therapy dog"...which immediately made me like her even more. My daughter is going in next Tuesday and I will take as much time off work as I need to because she comes first! I just feel like a little load has been lifted now that we have the ball rolling. My insurance pays 100% for the first 5 sessions. I'm very grateful today!

Hey Mylife - Congratulations on 30 days, excellent!!! K9, glad everything is working out with the insurance and counselor. It has to be enormously difficult to be a teenager these days, hell I'm 47 and not even close to figuring this world out!
2023 - focus, getting it done, and living the way it should be and being the person I need to be.

K9, so glad to hear you have coverage - it will be interesting to find out more about what's going on with your daughter. It is such a hard age. I'll never forget some of the girl stuff that went on in middle school - scary -- guess that's why they made the movie "Mean Girls". The kids who did the best are the ones who didn't let others get to them...........easier said than done, I know.

              MARCH MOTIVATORS

I half expect my daughter to come out of the counselor with a letter to me saying "Your alcoholism has affected me in the following ways..."
Yes, I watch too much Intervention. LOL

But seriously, I think it will do her some good. There was another issue 2 years ago where my youngest nephew was molested by an older boy, and my daughter goes to school with the older boy, and just seeing him sends her into a frantic stress mode. I'm hoping she can learn to work on letting that go too. The older boy (the Perve as I call him) was in her Health class, and she ended up having to drop the class and got an F. Can you imagine discussing sex in class and seeing the Perve that abused your little cousin across the room? I had to let her drop out!

Whew, what a roller coaster I've been on today, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for letting me dump all this!

K9 - well done, I always feel better when something is being done, so hopefully you will get answers - and oh, boy, yes - do I understand - it is amazing how I can track everything negative occuring back to the way I live my life - it is not a good way to be, but I go there straight away - try not to be too down on yourself and hopefully you wil be getting some direction as to what is going on. I feel sorry for your daughter - hard place to be!
Many Congrats MyLife - hang onto your success with both hands...really tightly!

                  The Kindling Phenomenon of Relapsing

Hey Marchers - food for thougt about relapses taken from an article I just read.

?An important concept in both alcohol craving and alcohol withdrawal is the ?kindling? phenomenon; the term refers to long-term changes that occur in neurons after repeated detoxifications. Recurrent detoxifications are postulated to increase obsessive thoughts or alcohol craving. Kindling explains the observation that subsequent episodes of alcohol withdrawal tend to progressively worsen.?

                    Hello Everyone!

I'm happy to be at 30 days but I think as I've said before I'm being extra cautious this time. I'm not celebrating - I don't know until maybe 2 years has gone by. LOL!

K9 - So happy to hear your moving things ahead with your daughter. I'm sure it's great for her to have a Mom she can call and who takes her problems seriously. You should give yourself a pat on the back.

Alls - I'm 48 and not close to figuring things out! So I'm right there with ya on that one!

SL - I will hang on to this with both hands. Thank you.

UW - thanks for the tip - the longer I'm sober the more onerous I'm finding out my opponent AL is!!

Have a great AF evening all. :l

Alls and ML - have you beat - I am 49 and fast approaching 50 - I decided that life was going to begin at 50, so I better get sorted out soon, as it is coming way too quick!
good night all - see you tomorrow...

                        Hi Everyone:
Just checking in for a short time! Still lumping along AF but did have a couple of cravings tonight.
Going through a bit of a rough time right now so the old urge to drown the rotten feelings instead of dealing with them comes back. So far, so good. I will stay strong.

                          Good morning Motivators!

Hope everyone is planning another wonderful AF Friday. I've got a bit of a cold. The good thing is AL cravings are zero, the bad thing is I have a cold. LOL.

R4L - maybe you can treat yourself to a special evening somehow that does not involve AL. You really deserve it. Take a hot bubble bath and listen to some soothing music, go to a movie - something to make yourself feel better. So sorry to hear you're going through a rough time! :l

Wishing everyone has a wonderful AF Friday. :h

                            Hi all.

K9, it's great to hear that your daughter has a counselor, and that's it covered! Also, the therapy pooch is wonderful.

Mylife, I missed congratulating you on 30 days. So congrats on 31 days!

I have tons to do today and have decided that I have got to MAKE myself start eating a decent breakfast so my mood (and energy) doesn't plummet.

Hugs to anyone who wants one. :l

                              MARCH MOTIVATORS

                              Hi Marchies!

Thanks for all the good wishes to me and my daughter...she's doing much better today, she was my usual happy, bubbly girl. We had a nice long chat last night, about nothing in particular, and it was great. I even stayed up well past my bed time so we could talk as long as she wanted, no way was I rushing her out of my room!

R4L - Hang in there, those nasty cravings will subside in time. And each one you get through makes the next one weaker.

Mylife - I hope you feel better! I hate having a cold, it sucks! Take care of yourself and get lots of rest and stay warm!

A big hello to SL, UW, Alls and everyone else I am missing, I hope you have a great day and weekend. Do something nice for yourselves, you all deserve it!

Tomorrow morning I take my cocker spaniel to the groomers (finally) to get his dreadlocks cut off and hopefully get those fleas taken care of. I am SO sick of fleas, I've done everything short of using a "flea bomb" in the house. I figured they'd die off by now but boy am I wrong!

You guys take care and stay strong...and no green beer this weekend! LOL
