Can't do two things at once

Oh please tell me i'm not insane, but I cannot seem to go AF (which I still am - 9 days) and give up smoking at the same time - plus have my medications fiddled with by the doctor.

So I am going to go back on the ciggys until i'm feeling more stable - I know sounds redundant and like I am making excuses (there is no such thing as a good time to give up smoking - I know) but does it make sense not to do it at the Worst Possible Time??

Not looking for anyone to help me prop up my habit - just tell me i'm not a complete dud of a person for being weak and pathetic (how I feel).

One thing at a time Cashy.......... Give it a month or so and then try to tackle the next one.

Dont worry about it, but incase you do want to quit smoking in the future, I quit smoking recently and I am using the commit losenges (mint flavor) the first couple are wierd tasting, but they are working good for me, so when you are ready maybe you should try something like that just to give you an extra boost.

        Hi Cashie,

as I said on another post, I'm using the patches (they are called Quit X) and they seem to work.

Having said that I think if you have to pick one habit to quit at a time then drinking would be the most important to quit, and you wouldn't want to overload.

So maybe only give up smoking if you think you are really ready - otherwise it can wait a little bit longer until you are more comfortable with AF.

        Good luck!

          Hi Cashie,

Look on it as two seperate battles, you can only fight one at a time, so I would go for getting rid of the drink first, then deal with the smoking....

Smoking and drinking both work on the same neurotransmitter in the brain, dopamine, so you really are giving yourself a double whammy by trying to quit both at once. I think that the only way to give up smoking at this time would be to use a nicotine replacement product so that you don't get too uncomfortable. Otherwise, you are really setting yourself up to be really squirrely!!

Keep the faith, Cashy. You can get both done. Give yourself some time!

              Hugs,

                Hi Cashy
I couldn't do the two at once.
Maybe when your a bit further down the line with one thing, you could manage both a little easier.

                  Dear Cashy,

I had to get one in control first. So I have been mods since March of 2006 and quit smoking the first of this year. I think I am through this time. MWO helped me find the trigger points so dealing with them one at a time I could handle.

                  Good for your for trying!
