Dear KitKatSue,

I am so sorry that has happened. It is quite controllable but does bring health insurance, long term health incurance etc up a bit.

I have high blood pressure and take 5mg of Lisinopril daily. They orginally had me on 10 mg but after cutting way back on the drinking I went way down on blood pressure. Some of it is totally hereditary, as the doctor pointed out to me, my mom (non drinker) has been on higher doses than this since her early forties and it has a lot to do with how you handle stress. Something I am working on also.

Did they check your cholestrol and all that good stuff? Mine is unusually low for someone with HBP, so it is more the stress level reaction thing than I had hoped.

Wishing you the best, it is a silent killer so good that you know and can be on meds for it.

Sorry about the BP and the ex, KitKat. You can get the BP taken care of, of course. I completely empathize about wanting a hit man for the ex. I've had that thought many times myself!

Hi KitKat,

My normal blood pressure is about 110/70 - perfect. However, when I've been tested after a night of drinking it is about 140/95. So, I would check out that scenario.

I got my doc to prescribe a low dose of clonindine that I have taken in the past when I've drunk too much. Also some rehab facilities now use this as part of the detox program.

I came clean to a close friend tonight and to my hr manager. They want to get me some help I think my coming out and telling them I saved my job. They were so kind. And I got a number to call. A hotline # with a real person. I'm going to the hospital tomarrow to see about detoxing safely. According to them I shouldn't try to alone. I guess I hit rock bottom.
