    I'm giving up

I'm giving up. I am an idiot

    I'm giving up

Ann, Do you really want to surrender your control? There is a war on for your mind and soul and you are going to give it up willingly? Sounds like you just lost a little battle. This does not mean you have to give up the war. YOU ARE NOT AN IDIOT!! If you are then we all are and I doubt very much that that is true. I don't have the answers but I am here to encourage you to not give up your power, you just need to learn to strengthen in whatever ways work for you. You have won some serious battles. Build on that.:l Drinking only dissipates the problems that cause us to drink.
    Psalms 119:45

?Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.?

Anne - I have to second RC - you are NOT an Idiot. You're just addicted to a poisonous substance. It's very hard to do.

Hang in there and please keep posting. :l

        No, you're not.
Not an idiot and not giving up. You're better than that.

Listen to RC... she's right on the money.

Ann, really? Tell us why.......is life seemingly awful without al? The problem is that you can never go back to when it was good.......I understand the sentiment of wanting a break from life, but it's illusory.....alcohol is a ruse and what you're thinking it will do for you......regardless of what that is.......is a joke.......you'll just get back to being miserable.

Before you take that plunge, please research how relapses make quitting again harder. Just educate yourself so you understand what you're doing. :lilheart:

I second and third what others have said, you are NOT an idiot. You are battling an addiction! Please, please do not give up. We only lose this battle when we stop trying. I know you don't want that...and we don't want that for you. I will be thinking of you and sending you strength!

If you screwed up, join the club. It takes many quits to reach the real QUIT. If you drank last night or had a few days in a row of drinking, please don't give up. I felt the same way many times especially recently when I just opened a bottle and had some wine just a few hours after promising myself it was over. We can't believe how weak we are and really tend to beat ourselves up. Hey alcohol is strong and perseverence is the key. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, wipe those tears away and join us who are also starting out AGAIN.

I do this for my children, my grandchildren, my health, my peace of mind, and mostly for the opportunity to learn to live with my true, unfiltered, clear-headed, vulnerable self.

Don't give up. We are here for you. You can do this!
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

Ann, whatever it is, it is not too much to overcome. Think about your daughter, whom I know you are very very proud of. Are you drinking right now?? Please come back and share what's really going on. People here care and want to offer you support.

                            The Kindling Phenomenon of Relapsing

Ann - taken from an article I just read:

?An important concept in both alcohol craving and alcohol withdrawal is the ?kindling? phenomenon; the term refers to long-term changes that occur in neurons after repeated detoxifications. Recurrent detoxifications are postulated to increase obsessive thoughts or alcohol craving. Kindling explains the observation that subsequent episodes of alcohol withdrawal tend to progressively worsen.?

Sending you peace and strength. :lilheart:
