    Here's a little dog tale.

.A guy is driving around the back woods of Tennessee and he sees a sign in front of a broken down shanty-style house: "Talking Dog For Sale."

He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the dog is in the backyard.

The guy goes into the backyard and sees a nice looking Labrador retriever >> sitting there.

    "You talk?" he asks.

    "Yep," the Lab replies.

... After the guy recovers from the shock of hearing a dog talk, he says "So, what's your story?"

The Lab looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk whenI was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA. In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping. I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running."

"But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in."

"I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals. I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired."

The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog.

    "Ten dollars," the guy says.

"Ten dollars? This dog is amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?"

"Because he's a liar. He never did any of that stuff."
Thank you G! Just what we needed this morning after Mr B and I had a ginormous fight about a news item based on the difference in values between socialists and anarchists. (I'm a socialist, he's an anarchist )

                  Hello Undies,

Happs, do you plant strawberries in the Fall there? Just curious.

I have a bed of strawberries that have been growing for years in my back yard. So much better than anything I can buy in the store but I have to beat the birds, squirrels and grandkids to them. :-)

                  Loved the joke, G.

Hope all you antipodeans have a pleasant evening.

Hi Cindi! Yes, autumn planting for strawberries in Southern Queensland. We're trying them in old gutters tied into the fencing on the vegie garden. Must up date with a photo of the patch, everything has gone crazy. I cant even remember when we started, must look back...

I am doing fine. It is odd not having a job to go to but getting kind of used to it.

I would love to see some pictures of the strawberries, Happs. At my age, the idea of being able to walk up to the plants and pick is much more attractive than the current bend over and pick. Hmmm.

How are the chooks, Tawny? I am considering some hens for my property as I have read they will take care of my Japanese Beetle problem without any pesticides. I haven't used any pesticides to-date because of the birds but those darn beetles just decimate my Rose of Sharons.

I have an old kennel on the property I could convert to a place for the hens.
