That is a bloody 'Work of Art"

        Basil in April,
I'm guessing you live toward the 'Top' of this fine country

Quality on the photos isnt great, took em with my phone.

The bread on the other hands is fantastic. Just as I pulled it out of the oven there was a parcel delivered that locust sent from NZ - full of walnuts and plum chutney and jam....so a slab of bread and jam was scoffed straight away...

Yep, Brizzy Jacqs. We started planting first two weeks of March...never seen anything like it...if you stand still long enough something grows on you...

From Sydney originally. This is our first real vegie garden here, instead of just herbs and tomatoes. And beans. We experimented with beans once. Not a huge success.

I was thinking about what you said about your boy. And I really do know what you mean. My boy put a screensaver on my computer that made me re think stuff. Lots of stuff.

We were away with friends over Easter and Having a mighty Fine time.
Boating Eating Walking the dogs and drinking in the evening.
                  All having great fun,
yours truly - life of the party.
Then after everyone had left he bailed me up and point blank said,
"Do you think Sally (his sister) and I like that?
Why do you always have to be the centre of attention?"

I looked forward a couple of years and instead of seeing him bringing home friends and girlfriends for dinner and a chat I saw him embarrassed and keeping me at a distance.

I don't see my parents (for different reasons) and I can't stomach the idea of my kids making the same choice.
                  Happy to be back

Mmm...we created these honest and outspoken individuals. Sometimes it just takes a while for you to really listen to what they're saying. My case on that one. I dont want to go backwards now.

                      Arvo Undies and International Doodyheads,

Missy - do your house look spectacular?

Now Happs (and I do throb the current avatar) - what a great job you've done on the girls. Wouldn't recognise the poor little buggers. They look fantastic ... almost as fantastic as the super-risen bread. Fantastic straight line with a dot underneath straight line with a dot underneath straight line with a dot underneath. And the garden - who'd have thunk? Go back a year and remember what you were doing then. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Rabbito - so glad you listened to him and actually heard what he was saying.

A weird sort of nothing day here weather-wise - overcast, threatening to rain but nothing came of it. Yet. I did manage to get one barrow of render onto the wall and cook a non-Heston, non-haute lunch and I'll now take my buttocks and place them on the comfy chair and contemplate my clavicles.

Next squiggly thing with a dot underneath

Oh I missed your sharp 'no frills' wisdom Tawny.

BTW Heston style meals are over rated,
however I did score points with the husband for actually giving it a go.

I've only seen him on TV and no doubt he is brilliant but I can only ask ... "But why?"

                              This mornings effort
Happs, this isn't bread - you discovered the ancient art of alchemy and cooked a golden orb :H

Garden and chooks look fantastic - what a great return for all that hard work :good job:

Ruby - that sounds like a really bad fall - hope you are recovering okay and taking it easy.

On the house - scaffolding etc it still up as there is lots of "finishing" to do and the weather has packed up again. And to be quite honest, the color was not my first choice, but the other two body corporate neighbors felt quite strongly about it, so I made the decision to give way. It looks good because it is looking fresh, but it is a bit bland I think. However getting the painting done is all part of the master plan - once we get the house sorted, I can either sell or rent it out ..... and then we can find a plot of earth for growing veggies and having chooks :-)

I bought a notebook today to record my progress with all the plans I have for the next year (starting Monday ) This is the image that it has on the front of it. If you haven't discovered Edward Monkton, he has some nice thoughts (that have been ruthlessly marketed into money-making products :H). But I thought this image was one that was appropriate for how I reckon my 51st year will be ........
(NB; I just got the cartoon on a notebook, didn't buy the mints!!)

Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

I like the idea of a notebook too. The master plan. Every mistress should have one.
