Underoos, Doodyheads and their Dogs, April

I need to interrupt the generally happy flow of this conversation to have a vent ...... otherwise I will sabotage myself and my intent to enjoy the celebrations that are planned for the next few days.

So, is my birthday on Monday, Mr B is taking me out for dinner tonight, we had planned a lovely picnic out this afternoon at one of our favorite local beaches, I have a "do" planned with some friends tomorrow afternoon, and some plans for spending some time alone and reflecting on Monday.

Mr B's son has also been in Wellington for the holidays ..... I won't go into the ins and outs of those arrangements, but the up-shot has been that his mother has been up to her old manipulations and quite a lot of the last week boy has been MIA with a dead cell phone (we knew that he was with his Mum and his sister, but didn't know quite what he was up to). Problem is ....... he is due back at school on Monday, his newly dry-cleaned uniform is here, so are all his school books, sports gear and other stuff, and he needs a hair cut. I have been nagging Mr B all week about trying to get stuff sorted, and I really hate doing it, because I know he feels pretty powerless over the whole situation. But I could just see it developing into a drama that would de-rail our plans for the weekend.

And now it has. Boy's mother finally got in touch at lunch time today and has dictated the only time that the stuff can be picked up and it is a time that is really inconvenient to us. And she has also imposed a whole lot of other conditions. So instead of our picnic/walk this afternoon, Mr B is sorting out some stuff with boy that really should have been done last week, and he won't be able to be at all of my event tomorrow, because he will need to be here for boy to pick his stuff up. And I know from experience that there will be things identified on Monday that haven't been done, that we will need to sort out at the last moment.

I'm really trying not to catastrophise this, because it isn't the end of the world, trying to rise above it, know that it isn't all about me, etc etc But actually I'm feeling really grumpy about it. And really sad and hurt. I don't want to be cross at Mr B because I know that he is stuck between a rock and a hard place. And I really don't want to go to dinner with him tonight feeling grumpy, because I know he has booked somewhere really nice. So if anyone can offer some sage advice to get me through this little trough, and get me back into a gratitude rather than a deprivation mode of think I would love to see/hear it. Even a joke to make me laugh would help :thanks:

            Missy.

I hate her miserable, twisted, ugly guts.

            She is so predictably boring.

I say put on your lovely new clobber and go out with Mr.B tonight, not without first firing a robust fart in her general direction.

It's YOUR birthday. Don't let some dopey mole fusk it up.

Tawny - this was just what I needed, thank you. It really helped. I have spent most of my life working to improve the position of women. I can totally see and understand things from the perspective of Mr B's ex. I just hate what it does to their kids. And me.

I went out for a long walk. That helped too.
