        A special thanks!

        I have been having a tough time the last few months dealing with my sobriety after 6 years. I was feeling really desperate and out of control thinking I would break especially the last few days! I frantically started searching online looking for something I could relate to. Reading your story made me remember that there was a very important reason I had to stop drinking to begin with! Thanks for sharing, you really helped me when I was feeling super vulnerable to relapse!

          Great posts Nicelife, it's really difficult to stay sober and you are inspiration, I'm very good at lasting months and months and then knowing I will drink again, not truly committing to sobriety for life.
          I think this is where the AA philosophy of 'one day at a time' really rings true. I also believe its like anything good the longer you have it the more you take it for granted so must always have you guard up.

            First time I've read this, but it certainly won't be the last. Thank you so much NL for sharing the experience. As a relative newcomer to being AF I plan to print this and read it if I ever have thoughts of having that first drink.

                  OMG - didn't realise my post from way back is up again. You know, sometimes The Universe just looks out for us....I'm glad this came to the surface again - I needed it.

                  I am a bit teary reading this again because it was a scary time, and when life gets a bit tricky (as it has been lately) thoughts of just blotting things out for a while by sticking my head in a bucket of grog and gulping seem enticing. The reality of doing that is more than disturbing!

                  I said this earlier today on a post in my fav spot of MWO, and I truly mean it....

                            Hi Nicey. Congrats on a YEAR sober!! I'm so glad this post got bumped up. I'm so glad you had the courage and took the time to write it. I can never hear too many times what happens if we drink again. I am just like you. I cannot safely drink, ever. Thank you.

                                Nice, I relapsed after 2 yrs for the same reason. Convinced myself I could have 1-2 and walk away. Nope,ended up drunk off and on for two yrs..
