Namibia is a beautiful country! Harsh, unforgiving in the dessert, yet loving!

The people had been shaped by nature, something a "city girl" like me found amazing! Towns and farms are very far apart, so, travelling 500km for shopping is all in a day's work...

For those of you with time on hand, check out Google Earth? I was in Walvisbay... To drive to Swakopmund, takes about 30 minutes, weather (fog and wind) permits. You travel with ocean to your left, and VAST dessert on your right! My mind could not grasp it the first time I was there, like Moses was there with his "magic" wand!

Swakopmund is like Germany on a small scale, people speak German everywhere, and the FOOD!!! Eisbein, schnitzel, spatzle everywhere! Luckily beer was never my poison, else I would have been tempted!

I ate Hake tongues!!! Eland fillet with dark chocolate sauce (eland is a buck, known also as Oryx).

I could move there in a flash, because of the people!!! VERY family driven, none of that "leave your brats at home, see you at 8"... They NEED each other, hence the closeness, hospitality and caring.

On a MWO note, I experienced so many people who just don't drink!!!! Because they don't like it, or they prefer juice... It was ecucational for me in the sense that it is possible to be content with a non-alcoholic beverage!!! No feel of deprivation!!! You can say "cheers" or "gezundheit" just as well with a grapefruit juice!!! Joke on me!

Your trip sounds amazing! When I hear stories from around the world, it makes me realize just how big and amazing the world really is. We get stuck in our own little corners, but there's so much to see and learn. I am envious of people that actually get to travel and experience so much. For now, I will depend on the Travel and Discovery channels! I'm glad you had fun...and welcome back!
