:welcome: boobie. It's wonderful to have you with us on the journey. This really is an incredibly supportive bunch you've joined with and I, for one, can say without reservation that we're family. Not joined by blood, but by love, compassion and an openness that's hard to find elsewhere in the world. Family in the true sense of the word. Admittedly, we're a bit strange at times, but the bond is real. Here we can pour our hearts, whinge, vent, cry for help and, in our turn, reach out to other hungry, hurting souls with understanding, empathy and real fellow feeling. Admittedly, we have our foibles and sometimes we're a little crazy, but we don't judge among ourselves.
Sadly, not everyone on the site respects our little band, and from time to time they drop in to stir up contentions. This says more about them rather than about us. It's sad for them that they think it's their job to 'set matters straight' and point out our faults in an unkind and unpleasant manner, but we really don't care for their opinions and rally around the ones who have been singled out for a vitriolic attack. Anyway, enough said on that.

You said nobody understands what you're feeling. Dear boobie, we have all experienced that and my heart goes out to you. It's a painful and lonely place...if you don't have anyone to take your hand and travel with you. As you get to know us better you'll understand that our figurative hands and hearts are reaching out to you so you don't have to walk alone. So, once again, :colorwelcome: :chute:

Thank you all so much. I know I'm in the right spot. I look forward to getting to know you all. I will share a picture soon but am still so secretive and nervous. I'll get there.

My desire to drink has passed and I feel much better now. The 30 minute rule really does work for me. I haven't really taken any of the other medications but do occassionally take a kudzu, l-glut, and one other. Can't remember it now. They help somewhat but my powerful skills of persuasion can talk me into and out of drinking very easily.

Boobie - thought I'd give you a little low down on me. Maybe we can all tell you about ourselves so you know about our crazy lives. :H

I'm 53 years old. Married for almost 35 years. We have a 25 year old son. (He's graduating from college in a couple of weeks. I live in Southern California.
I'm still fighting that battle to become sober. I'll get in several weeks/months of sobriety and then decide to drink. I'm currently taking Antabuse and Naltrexone which I think will really help. I had to go off of it because I'm having a colonoscopy & endoscopy on Thursday. But, I'll get back on it after that.
So, that's me in a nutshell.
