The hail that we got from the storm last week - 20 mins after the storm - when I finally got home !!!! This was still in the garden. Boobie, alone time is so important, isn't it? Are you close to any hiking type area? That's one of my favorite ways to get all my thoughts together and settle the inner din. :h
Right out my front door are amazing mountains to climb. I go about 4 miles a few times a week and love it.

Fen thanks for the advice on the book. I am always trying to understand why it's different for some of us. I've actually found it hard to find material on the effects on the physical body but never thought to look at the origins other than that it can be passed on by a parent.

My Way Out book was the first book I'd found that actually really helped because so much of it was so similar to how I functioned and felt.

Honestly I'm not as interested in the why anymore. Personally I used to hold on to and use that information to be a victim then sit in my pitty pot of vodka. No matter what the reasons are I just have to deal with them. For me this is huge. I just figured this out at 43 years old. It's the first time I feel somewhat in control.

I'm off for a hike! Beautiful blue sky's and everything is amazingly green and blooming.

Gosh Boobie that is a wonderful place to live. I grew up in Colorado and loved it. As for me I am 51, single, 2 teen daughters and a cat. I have been here for years, and my drinking is up and down. Have had good success with antabuse but trying it on my own which really isn't working that well......MB I am not evicting Fen now since she opened all my walnuts for me....Fenn, I wont be an official rehabber from this class but will know what to do until the critter can get to one. They will tell us what we need to do to get certified though or whatever it is....Rubes nice to see you post...Nora, my radishes are almost ready..Sun that was some hail...still havent made it to work, guess I will go in after lunch, the kids spring concert is tonight I am excited...gonna try and post some pics.

Mama, I fit right in at Bird's place...she combs out my fleas, I open her walnuts.

Boobie, so many people think we have to know "why" we drank. For me, there's no deep mysterious reason. I'm reading a book by Gail Caldwell, and when her doctor asked her why she drank, she told him that "It made the world golden" when she did. That's the closest I can come to explaining my "why".

It is interesting to me that our brains behave so differently than the brains of other peeps. The book gave Mrs. Fen some insight as to why it's hard for alcoholics to "just stop", and why certain places or events can serve as irritating triggers for ages after stopping. The book also had a lot of dietary suggestions to repair the brain.
