girls over 40 how are you dealing with it?

I think I would go to my room and cry if my husband told me to "look pretty" when he gets home.... my interpretation would be that I have to "do" something to qualify to be in the "pretty category". That probably didnt help! I like Tawny's idea. You could serve him some guts and tell him its your "inner beauty". :H

I'm 38 and my sister is 45. We look like twins so I can always look at her and know what I will look like in six years! She still looks great, so that gives me hope! My husband thinks my sister is gorgeous, so I think I'm safe for a while....

Oh, and I think many men are very often attracted to older women, so your husband sounds like he has a touch of that in his taste! He probably loves being married to someone in their prime! I'm a month older than my husband, but I guess that doesnt count! My

    Good luck tonight!

Accountable, you and every lady that has responed are fabulous. We do tend be be harder on ourselves than needed. I too used to date older men for the same reason you mentioned. The oldest one I ever dated had children my age (I know what everyone is thinking EWWH ....did you sleep with him? no . That I couldn't do) but he was fun and lively. but the last older man I dated was abusive. My husband came thru the door at the right time. Just like he will tonight. By the way My husband is going to the Whistler resort in March are you familar with it? He wanted me to come with, But now you need a passport to go to Canada so timeline dosen't work because I lost mine someplace. Takes to long to replace

                  Simey;

I'm over 40, and it doesn't matter. I've returned to school, I'm able to identify better with my child as far as academics and grades are concerned. I'm more grounded in my aspirations. I know more at the age I'm at now.

With all of that being said, I think I metabolize alcohol alot differently now than earlier years, which makes it harder to handle at over 40 vs. over 20. I complete what I start, even though I do tend to procrastinate.

Enjoy being over :l :l 40 life experience is on our side!!:l

                    I hang upside down.

Makes it harder to drink and I look better too.

                      way over 40!

Hi Simey, I am 48 and I just don't think about it too much. I was (if I say so) a pretty young thing in my day, and although I only see a shadow of her when I look in the mirror, I try not to gage my worth on the prettyness factor. I bet your hubby only meant that comment in the most innocent of ways, not seriously. We tend to be so critical of ourselves. I bet you are gorgeous! :h Suz

Hi Simey (love your avatar) and you other lovely girls,

I'm 46 now and I've always looked younger than I am, but it's catching up with me now and I'm putting a stop to it! In the past I've bought expensive creams but been too pissed, hungover, apathetic, whatever to use them. Or I'm always border-line dehydrated, so that shows on the skin. And obviously, there's a slight yellow tinge to my skin, eyes that shouldn't be there. And the red veins...ohmygod !

Now, since cutting right down, I'm hoping my skin will repay me !!

I can really understand this becasue I am 46 and I hate the "invisible" thing that you start to get once you are into your forties- especially if it is one of those days when trying hard just doesn't work! my husband is fantastic though and that helps!

Pebbles, believe me when I say your skin can rebound!! Mine has quite a bit. I look better than I have ever in the last few years!! It makes a HUGE difference quitting the drinking.

                                Pebbles,
An extra 60 dollars and you can get a passport in one week. Do it now!!!!
Forget the wrinkles. Mine are growing on me (literally and figurativley).
                                Go to Whisler and enjoy.
