I have a woman doc now and she is brilliant...so easy to talk to. The rest were men and I wouldn't go and see them unless I was at death's door.

did i say welcome back one...y...Pingu, maybe best to fess up to the doctor. Don't be afraid. Tell her you did what you felt was right for you and that you didn't feel that you could wait til you got an appointment. Tell her exactly what you told me, how you were feeling and stress to her how much better you feel now. It comes through in your posts that you're feeling better. I'm sure she'll understand.

I've only ever had one woman doctor, the rest were men. And she was HORRIBLE!!! I hated going to see her...
I went to a woman GP here a few years ago since I decided to look into some health issues that I had - a problem with my leg and also with my neck, to get blood work done and finally do something about AL. She was okay with writing up the test and x-rays to be done. When I asked her for help with the drinking and for AD's, she looked at me like I was a piece of dirt and practically threw me out of her office telling me to go see a shrink. I went back to her with the x-rays and when she saw the x-rays of my neck she started going on about what crappy shape I was in an that my neck vertebrae looked like those of a 75-year old woman. She was really not nice at all and I practically broke down in tears. The problem was, I couldn't change doctors as she is the one assigned to our area through Mr. Stirly's health plan. I stuck it out and finally won her over by asking about her kids and such every time I went for her to renew my prescription. She really did not like me due to the drinking. So very biased and so very uninformed about addictions. Mind you, I doubt she had many patients who went to her asking for addiction problems, either male or female, so probably she'd never had the need to learn about them.

Yep, I know just what you mean. Mr. Stirly's cardiologist is a right wanker as well. Sorry, Oney made me say that.
