Oney's Eat Right NOT Shite Thread.

SUPER EXCITED Stirls, gonna do this 2moro.

    Few questions tho.

    How much is a cup?

Raw oatmeal, is that like porridge or the pinhead oatmeal I use for the bread?

Do I have to use skimmed milk?

wax paper, is that like greaseproof paper?

Can I really cook them first and THEN freeze them?

Funny you should mention juice, I was thinking of maybe juicing fruit and taking it that way.

Glugged down my chia seeds in water today...poxy horrible.

Gonna incorporate them into my bread I think.

What are Chia seeds and what are they for?
My friend has a juicer and she made carrot, orange, lemon and ginger juice. It was delish and a very easy way to get loads of fruit down.

Chia seeds were the superfoods of the Aztec's apparently...loads of shite in them,. omegas and stuff and all that jazz.

I don't have a juicer, I have a food processor tho, I think you need a juicer tho for the citrus fruits.

Oney sounds like ur making progress with ur healthy eating

I had my day two yesterday was not so good as my day one:

Yesterday I ate: L glute tablet after short weights and cardio workout, ceral bar, tuna and mayonase sandwich with salad (377) calories , a packet of crisps, a chocolate biscuit, a small apple , a banana, another ceral bar and a small bowl of mince, one medium sized dumpling and loads of veg
I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person.

sausage casserole.............. half fat sausages or morrisons do the sausages thats bound with rice not fat, there nice. Onions, and any veg that u like.
Packet of sausage casserole mix or if u dont wanna use that u could use gravy or tinned tomatoes and a bit of tomatoe pureee.

cut sausages up into equal segments, bite size or a bit bigger then brown them in a frying pan, with a ittle oil not much, cook veg on the boil, or in the pan depending on how they can be cooked and make up mix or gravy and pour in or put tinned tomatoes in and puree in and simmer gently. you could have potatoes with it or crusty bread or on its own

                              Pinky, that recipe sounds good.

Here's a recipe for Greek sausage casserole. I don't know that this is necessarily healthy food only for the fact that the sausage has a rather high fat content. However, if you can get Italian-type sausage with less fat, that would be ideal. It's a delicious meal that I make once in a while with sausage and more often with chicken. With the chicken -boneless, skinless - it takes the fat content way down. But it is darn tasty with the sausages.

This is what it looks like cooked...

You use these kind of sausages. I use a spicy one but you could use sweet Italian sausages and adjust the spices to your taste.

These kind of peppers. Make sure they are the sweet ones, not the hot ones. You can use bell peppers as well but I wouldn't recommend the green ones as they have a stronger flavour but the red or yellow ones would work fine.

                              Spetsofai (Sausage and Pepper Casserole)

This is my recipe for 3 servings.

                              Ingredients

4 6-inch sausages sliced in 1/8 inch rounds or the equivalent amount in boneless, skinless chicken cut in strips
6 6-inch sweet banana peppers cut in 1/2 inch strips crosswise
1 14-ounce can chopped, peeled tomatoes
1 large pink or white onion cut in half lengthwise then sliced lengthwise
1/2 cup EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) you can use less if you want to
                              salt
                              cayenne pepper (optional)
                              garlic powder (optional)

                              Instructions

Put the oil, onion, tomatoes and sausage slices or chicken strips into a deep saute pan. Bring the ingredients to a boil and cook covered, over medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally and adding some water if necessary. Add peppers and cook until the peppers are soft, about 15 minutes. At this point, add the salt, cayenne pepper and garlic, if desired, in the amount that you like. I use a rather spicy sausage and don't add much cayenne pepper and no garlic at all. If you use chicken, you may want to add some garlic, oregano and basil to spice it up a bit. The sauce should be thick, if it isn't cook at high heat for a minute or so, uncovered so the liquid evaporates.

Great served with egg noodles, rice or oven fries.

                                Chicken, rice and cabbage casserole

                                Ingredients:

1 chicken, about 1-1/2 kilos, cut into pieces (for a healthier meal, buy skinless chicken or remove it yourself)
1 medium size white cabbage (the firm kind) with stem removed and chopped into large pieces
1 large white or red onion, chopped
? cup rice for pilaf or brown rice
                                1-1/2 cups boiling water
Juice of 2 lemons (you can use more or less according to taste)
                                ? C EVOO
Salt, and cayenne or black pepper to taste.

                                Directions:

I cook it in a deep saute pan, not in the oven
Brown the chicken lightly on all sides in the olive oil if you?re using pieces with the skin on, then add the onion and cabbage and stir until the cabbage starts to wilt, about 10 minutes. If using skinless chicken pieces, lightly saut? the onion in the olive oil, then add the chopped cabbage and stir until wilted. Then add the chicken pieces, rice, boiling water, ? tsp. salt and the juice of one lemon. Simmer for about half an hour, checking the last 10 minutes to see if the food has enough liquid. Add water if necessary. If it appears to have too much, leave the top off the pan and increase the temperature a bit so the extra liquid evaporates. Stir often to avoid the rice sticking to the pan. When the rice is cooked and the liquid has been absorbed, remove from heat and adjust the salt, pepper and lemon juice to taste.
For every 60 seconds that you are angry, you lose a minute of happiness.
