have you had a very sweet moment recently

Have you recently had a little day brightner? Mine came in the way of my 5 year old Grandson. He got to spend Sunday afternoon and night with us. This was a slice of heaven for me. As I was driving him home he said to me hold my hand so I gave him my hand his little fingers slipped between mine with mini fist made. He looked at me with his huge hazel eyes and said MamaMar am I getting old? I assured him he was along way from getting old and that I would definetly see him again before he got "old". What goes on in little minds is a wonder

      Simeybear - great story!

My six-year-old son got upset the other day when I told him he was getting bigger. When I asked him why he was upset, he told me that he didn't want to grow up - he wanted to stay my little man forever. Got all the ice cream he wanted that night.....

This is a very sweet story also.

        LUNCHTIME WITH MY LADY
        by Michael Smith

"Kathy?" the moderator of the conference called asked. "Do you
        have anything to add?"
        "I'm fine." she replied.
        "Andrea?" Deb asked.
        "Good here."
        "Terry?"
        "Nope! I'm good."
        "Courtney?"
        "Fine."
        "Mike?"
"I'm fine. Good call, everyone," I replied. "I'll send the
spread sheet out tomorrow. We'll talk on Thursday. Hopefully I'll
have answers to our problems by then, Deb." I hung up.
"Glad that's over," I said to myself. I looked at the clock:
11:55am. The call ended just in time for me to meet my lady for our
noon time walk. I meet her outside the main entrance to my building,
where she waits for me every day.
        "Hi!" I smile.
"Hey! How's your morning going?" she asks. The sound of her
voice makes my heart skip a beat.
"Pretty good. I just got through my conference call in time. I
thought I was going to miss you." We rounded the corner of the
building, crossed the parking lot, and approached the wooded area in
the back. My voice drops to a whisper, "I wonder if the deer will be
        around today?"
"I hope they are," she says. "I know how much you love them."
She allowed me to guide her along the edge of the woods, as I peered
intently through the tangle of branches, hoping to see my big furry
        friends.
        "I don't see them," I tell her.
"It's OK. Maybe they found better feeding somewhere else
today." I followed the path between the trees and humming
transformer that is protected by a wire fence. The humming faded
away as I turned the corner, headed for the side street we like to
follow on our lunch break. The road is bordered by office buildings
on one side and chestnut trees or fields on the other.
We stopped when we reached the grassy strip between the chestnut
trees and the road. A young doe is feeding on the grass not more
        than twenty feet away.
        "There she is," I whispered.
        "What?" she asks.
"A young doe." I described it to her. "She's beautiful. She's
        eating the grass."
        "Really?"
"Yeah! She looked up at the sound of my voice and then
continued feeding. I bet there are more around. There's usually more
        than one."
The deer grew nervous, as I continued to describe it to my
friend. It wandered into the brush. I guided my friend to where the
deer disappeared and peered into the woods.
"There's more," I said with a hint of excitement in my voice.
"Wow! I wish I could see them too," she sighed. "I guess I
should just be thankful to spend time with you."
        "Awe... Thank you, sweetie."
We continued to walk as I described the scenery around me. "I
think they better cut the grass in the field. It's beginning to look
like a meadow." We left the field behind us, came to a bike trail,
and strolled along it. I felt an urge to hold my friend's hand, but
        I couldn't. It wouldn't be right.
We passed a senior citizen complex, rounded a corner and
followed the trail along a strip of trees between two soccer fields
-- my favorite part of our walk. I always see a lot of birds along
this strip -- some I've never seen before. I lowered my voice. "I
hope I see some birds today. I didn't see many yesterday."
"I hope so too." Her voice a soft whisper in my ear.
"Hold on! I think I see something."
        "What is it?"
"I'm not too sure. I've never seen one like this before." I
inched us closer. "It has a tuft on its head. The back is
brownish color, then fades to a grey near the tail. It has a black
mask across its eyes. The tips of its wings have red and there's a
red spot at the base of its tail. The tip of the tail and the sides
of its breast are yellowish. The breast is cream color. It is so
        pretty."
"Wow! I wish I could see it too. Do you know what it is?"
        "Yes."
        "What is it?"
        "A bird."
"Michael! Stop teasing me!" she scolds.
"Sorry!" I chuckled. "I'm not sure. I'll have to look it up in
my bird book when I get home."
We reached the end of the trail, turned and headed back the way we came.
"I love spending my lunch with you," I said.
        "I enjoy it too."
"I'm glad. It would be boring without you to share it with." I
got that I-want-to- hold-her-hand feeling again. "It's so pleasant
        being with you."
"Thank you, Hun." We reached the door to my building.
"I have to go in now, Sweetie. Thanks for sharing your lunch
        hour with me."
"No! I thank you," she replies.
"I love you, Sweetie!" Those words came natural to me.
"I love you too!" she says the words that always melt my heart.
"I love you more! It's my day."
"Yes it is. I love you too. Call me when you're on your way home."
        "I will, Sweetie. Bye!"
        "Bye."
I close my cell phone. "I love my wife." I say to myself. "I
can't wait to get home and hold her in my arms."

have you had a very sweet moment recently

This post couldn't have come at a better time for me ... had a lovely email just now, wanted to share it but didn't know where to post it ... so here it is .... It made me smile ......

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.

One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.

Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

            Days and weeks passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep.

She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall.

The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

            Epilogue:

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

"Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present."

The origin of this letter is unknown, but it brings blessings to everyone who passes it on, and to all who receive it.

Do not keep this letter. Why not forward it to your friends to whom you wish blessings?

                  wonderful stories..

My 5 year old grandson (6 now) was spending the weekend with my husband (Pops), myself and his 9 year old brother..Pops and brother were gently wrestling and playing on the couch, there was a fire in the fire place..all was well...the 5 year old is reclined on a small chair, feet crossed at the ankles, head resting on his outstretched arms and hands at the back of his neck..looking around the room his sighs, "this is the life"....you would have thought he was the grandpa. This is the same little boy who is Mr. tough guy most of the time, but if you bring him to church (rare occassions)..he walks in with all the reverance in the world..last Easter we took them..he sat through the whole sermon, held his candle...as we walked out of the church and past the preist, he points at him and ask us if he was God. :0)

My sister lives in France and has two boys- Matthew and Jack.
My mom went to visit them about three years ago. The oldest, Matthew was 6 at the time.
After about a week they decided to take the train over to London for a visit. While there, they decided to take a side trip to visit Charles Dicken's house.
So, they kept telling Matthew that they were going to Charles Dickens house that afternoon.
Well..they went, walked thru the house, looked in all the rooms and finally Matthew said...'Well, where is he?"
                              "Who?" they said
                              "Charles Dickens, where is he?"
Well, they felt terrible and explained to Matthew that he was a writer but that he lived a long time ago and he was dead now. "Oh", he said.
As they left the house, walking past people waiting to go in Matthew proceeded to tell everyone in line "He's Dead!!! Hey ,he's Dead!! Charles Dickens is Dead!"

Guess he didn't want them to be as disappointed as he was!
