Sad news . I accompanied the patient transport ambulance yesterday while my friend was transferred to a palliative care unit. I said goodbye to her by the ambulance and said I'd see her today.
Couldn'nt sleep last night and got an sms at 2:30 am that she had passed away.
Went over to the kids very early this morning and told them, then another friend and I took them to hospital to say goodbye to their mum. The sunrise was the most glorious I've seen for a while.... and I said Look, God is smiling for your mum." They loved that.
At the hospital we'd been explaining about things, what was happening to their mums body and letting them ask questions etc. Then after a while the littlest one was looking up at the ceiling and then said
"I 've got a question.

"Can mums soul go through the roof and ceiling?"


I thought that was so beautiful, matter of fact, innocent, and such a sensible question that a child would ask.

Anyway, am home now pretty tired and off to Wingello this arvo. So I won't be in touch for a couple of days... Gawd I sound like Con the grocerer....

Oh Raggsy :l I just had a little weep for you, and for your friend, and for her kids. I'm so so glad that they had you there for them. And so hard for you going through this so soon after losing Mr Rags father. I'm sending you very many good thoughts.

And I can positively say that virtual good thoughts and hugs work extremely effectively! Mr B reports that his interview went really well, and asked me to pass onto you how much he has felt buoyed by all your good wishes. He said it felt like there was a virtual cheer squad accompanying him on the plane :l

Funny you should say that....
The kids wanted to look and touch her feet and someone lifted the sheet and they just loved the fuchia toenails! "Oh look " "Oh wow look at her toes" ... she obviously very rarely painted her toenails. Another lovely little touch to make it all so calm and natural..

Yesterday all she wanted me to do other than get her lots of cordial drinks was to massage her feet and lower legs...... I put a lot of love into it.

Whenever I massaged her hands or feet I had been turning it into a massage meditation..... it worked and she said it calmed her mind...................
