    underoo's jumping june jamboree.

I've been having lots of coffees with people over the past two weeks, with a view to (subtly!!) reminding them of our existence in the hope that they might send work our way!! Anyway, this afternoon I had coffee with a neuro-scientist (and no, I'm not hoping to work in neuroscience :H) who was telling me about how much empirical evidence there is now of the effect that practices like mindfulness, meditation, thinking grateful thoughts and focussing on other people rather than ourselves make a difference to brain functioning.

There was an amazing women on MWO a few years ago, whose name I've forgotten, but she was a psychologist, and she had some very interesting things to say about all of that. I think some of her thoughts got incorporated into the Toolbox thread. Off to have a look then it is magazine in the bath and an early night for me!

TF - don't know when Mr B will find out about the job (he forgot to ask!!! :headbanger but hopefully this week. We have a PLan B for if he doesn't get it (actually we have several PLan B's!!). I talked to the people in Sydney last week and asked whether they had any short term projects that I could come over for, or alternatively some contract work hat I could do here for them, but they really want a full-time permanent employee. That is still on the table as an option.

Looking forward to soup descriptions! I had my leftover parsnip, carrot and ginger soup for lunch today and it was as nice 18 hours later as it was last night!!

Yes - she was an amazing woman and I was very sad when she left.

However, her words of wisdom are immortalised on the Tool box thread!!

Done the long hot soak in the bath, done the Woman's Weekly and Next, was intending to have an early night, but now I'm wide awake!! What's with that??? :H:H

Whenever people mention 'bath', I feel like I imagine Happs feels when people mention 'flue'.

          Tee-hee.

No. I think it only fair to wait until all entries are in - although it's already been leeked [sic] by Cactus Man that Missy's the clear winner ...

I reckon it would be beef broth with bone marrow quenelles and charamelised bacon strips over a steak. Yes. That's what it would be.

I meant to point out to Techie that you can't actually win a competition when there is only one entry. But I sort of felt a bit speshul that he had so much faith in my soup :H

Are you all doing photos? Doesn't soup just look like soup??

I'm finishing work early tomorrow, so could do a special effort, and it is my cooking night ..... but it definitely won't involve making my own bread! I was, however, musing today that an asian version of the parsnip, carrot and ginger soup might be interesting ....... adding a bit of chilli and fish sauce, coconut cream rather than dairy, and all topped off with coriander.

But I don't do presentation, condiments or sides :H I'll leave that to the real cooks
