Well I guess I can join too. I started losing weight to get healthy the day I quit drinking (third try). I am a 46 year old male, 5' 8" and weighed 272 pounds at the Doctor's office. That was October 2010. I now weigh 189 pounds (83 pounds lost). I plan to get down to around 170 pounds so still some to go.

Booze itself wasn't responsible for my being overweight, but I sure made some bad food choices when I did drink.

Hi, when I was on topamax I lost weight, it was great. But it is also a seizure med, I am afraid to weigh in. I have been going to gym, doing zumba, kickboxing and eliptical. Also, added weights, my arms are starting to feel good. My clothes are tight, so I am using clothes as a gage. Please include me

So far I haven't binged on chocolate or ice cream today! Go me! :H

I have had such serious sugar cravings since going AF and they just don't stop. But I also think that my age (47) is creeping up on me. I always lost weight easily if I tried and could always maintain a decent weight with little effort. I'd say that has really changed in the last year and now what has worked in the past no longer works. I really need to get busy moving. My activity level is in the dumps.

Hey FlyAway - congrats on no binging on the sweets today! I'm getting some cravings, but every time I look up the points value for Weight Watchers, I quickly try to think of something else LOL

I'm making some 0-point soup this morning - tomato bok choy soup in a light tomato broth. Gotta stick to the point system!!

Hey, I am also struggling with the activity level. I start a fitness boot camp in two weeks, but that is temporary. I need to get motivated in that department as well.

What is everyone else doing for activity?

                  Weight Loss Support Thread!!!

Well, I had a craving for candy yesterday that wouldn't be smothered. So, I had a 3 Muskateers, 200 cal. Not too stressed about it, but I know that I didn't eat a good breakfast yesterday (1/2 banana). This is the reason I wanted a Fri weigh-in, LOL! By Monday I'll have gained all 3 lbs back. Haha, hopefully not.

Went for a walk with the dogs on Friday, went to the fleamarket yesterday with bf and walked around there for over an hour. Today I haven't done any physical activity yet. Started to say I might clean house, but I might not either, lol.:H

Hope everyone is having a happy, losing day!

P.S. I tried to fight the sugar craving with first, fresh grapes, then I cut up a cantalope and ate some of that. Nothing would satisfy but chocolate, so that's my story and I'm sticking with it.

LG - don't worry about the candy bar. That definitely won't cause you to gain three pounds by Monday, at least I hope not! Sounds like you are being pretty active otherwise, so I wouldn't worry about it! I like you idea of how to satisfy a sugar craving. It's definitely not the same as chocolate, but it might work in a pinch!

So, I made a bet with myself. I am currently 170 pounds. When I reach 160 pounds, I am buying myself two new TVs - one for the bedroom and another for the exercise room to put in front of my treadmill. I will have to finance them, but so what?

The thing is, losing weight is not just a weight thing. It's very much an alcohol thing for me too. I can try to eat healthy and exercise all I want to, but if continue to drink, I won't get anywhere. I'll be consuming empty calories, going over my WW points, and not exercising from being hungover.

                    So....160 pounds, here I come!!!

                      Weight Loss Support Thread!!!

I posted this in the Nest, but it should be here (too).

Well, I got in some activity points today! I've cleaned the bathrooms, kitchen, living room, bedroom (one, mine ), on second load of laundry, vacuumed, cleaned ceiling fans...whew! About 2 hours of work so far. That might be it for the day. I cleaned my little dressing table where I do my hair and makeup, and it looks so nice, lol. That's something I hate doing because all the little bottles and products have to be moved, haha!

I agree Rooni, AL was making it impossible for me to lose weight, and next to impossible to give a damn, lol. Didn't you know when you're drunk, you're pretty and sexy? ROFL

Eating some boiled shrimp and some mussels with tomatoes now. How many points is that I wonder, lol.

                        Weight Loss Support Thread!!!

Hi everyone. New here and just starting my journey. Im Female, 5' 10" and because of my drinking have grown to a whopping 200lbs!!! My goal is to get back to my perfect weight of 150 which is where I felt the healthiest before I began drinking. Im on my 5th day without alcohol and Im suprised at how good I feel but knowing my pattern I can usually go for about 3 weeks before I start drinking again. I will be starting Baclofen as soon as my order arrives. So that should help. Ive started walking again and am beginning to introduce a training program and Im also starting a diet program that I wouldnt actually call a diet called The Diet Solution. Its all about eating organic meats and produce, sprouted grain products and cutting out wheat flour productsm brown rice or Quinoa instead of white rice, sweet potatos instead of white potatos. Its also about portion control. Thats not to say I wont be having a cheat day of course!!! The bottom line is that Alcohol and dieting dont mix at all. I commend everyone on here who are working toward not only controling their alcohol consumption but also getting their weight under control!!!!! Keep up the good work!!
:wings:Every day is another day to set things right!! Make today a new beginning, the first day of the rest of your life!:wings:

Goals: to stay AF and to start to incorporate some sort of exercise into my daily routine!!!:wings:

Amen, Amy!! Welcome to the group! If we want to lose the weight, we MUST stop the drinking. We cannot do both! :welcome:

Thanks for the welcome Rooniferd. Its good to be here. Im a firm believer that group support can make a huge difference in the success of weightloss and that its ok if we take a cheat day as long as its not out of control and we get right back on the diet after. I wouldnt be able to stay sane without a cheat day lol Hope everyone is enjoying their sunday.

Hey Amy, I'm interested in your cheat day. I guess that's why they give you those 49 bonus points in weight watchers. So, do you let yourself eat anything you want that day, or are you just referring to a candy bar or something? I think a cheat day would be a nice break once in a while!

First sober party today for Jubilee. Didn't crave one bit and didn't feel like I was missing out on anything at all. Felt good. Probably won't post anymore as feel kind of invisible but thanking all who've helped along the way. MWO really helped kick start my sobriety and for that I'm truly grateful. Wishing you all well on your sober journeys. No doubt I will lurk from time to time. God bless
