Ann, sorry you are sick. Unfortunately, that's what happens when you drink on AB. The violent reaction is the deterrent. Please take care of yourself....can you get to the ER? Go on the meds forum and see what other people who have taken AB have experienced when they drank. Keep us posted!

Hi Ann, due to the time difference and time past to when I am posting this my response probably comes too late. Hoping you got some relief from the side effects and are feeling better. I have had a mild reaction to it a few days after taking is. I have used benedryl, digestive enzymes and gravol to decrease the reaction. I have also had a horrible headache the next day. The rapid heart rate is frightening. Not too sure what the long term effects are on the heart.
Anyway, hoping you are feeling better now.

I do think that antebuse does more than just block al breakdown. I don't seem to get the same response, or did not get the same response after taking antebuse.

Let us know how you're doing. I had a reaction too (from alcohol). Rapid heartbeat, flushing of the skin, headache from HELL and nonstop vomiting. I can't remember ever being that sick, and I never want to feel that again. I wanted to just crawl out of my skin! I hope you are better today. Drink lots of gatorade and water to try to flush out the AL. Please let us know what's happening!
