MAY SOUND IDIOTIC, BUT WHY IS THIS BLOODY WORTH IT ?

Hey Kradle - just sending you good thoughts. Sorry for all of your issues right now. What a pain! I hope you can get the meds settled down so the side effects aren't so bad.:h

kradle, do you have a calender to write things on? I'm not on topa but am on some meds that seriously mess with my memory and I've been where you are, turning up for appts on the wrong day or week etc. Now I have a calendar hanging in the kitchen with everything written on it so I can keep track and it's all in my face, so it's worked a treat. even if I have to write the same things on it week after week it has really helped because I just can't rely on my memory at all. anyway, just a thought

MAY SOUND IDIOTIC, BUT WHY IS THIS BLOODY WORTH IT ?

              Good morning everyone

I actually do feel some what better this morning. I didn't take my whole topa dose yesterday and I think being able to explode here took some pressure off the cooker.

DG- Had got smile RE the Calander. My downfall yesterday regarding the kids lessons was my calender on the fridge. I had been systematically 'misreading' the days all week!
I Was actually one full day behind the rest of the world

I am going to start putting all my appointments in my phone now. I can program an alert which then tells me what's going on, where I'm supposed to be up to 30 minutes before I'm supposed to be there. I think this is my best bet.

My husband is taking the twins camping Sunday for a few days. This will be a big load off..

Hugs to everyone for another AF day. I think this one will be better

Glad your feeling better too Kradle! That you've mastered your Smart Phone.

My oldest pre-ordered that new Samsung Galaxy. So she has it b4 it's out in the stores. She's having fun with it & already mastering it. Well she's part of the high tech generation & is 27. So huh. She had to teach her Dad when he got an I-Phone. If I ever get one I want an Android!

Oh there I go turning a different direction on your thread. hehehe..... I hope ya don't mind lovely lady! I get the feeling ya won't. But, if ya do I'm sorry. See I'm practicing my Mindfullness. & Politeness.

I cut my Topa down to 50 mg am. Once in a while take 25 mg pm. I had to reverse dosage times as it keeps me awake at night. I do think a big part of this is the brain healing & our age. I've had days like this too, where I forget things. Usually cause, I'm exhausted! I was at the store a wk & half a go, oh I can't member hahaha, :H teased the clerk saying didn't know where I was. He was young & looked at me like I was a Looney. I am, but not really. I don't care what they think. Still working on this! Look Kradle be nice to Kradle! Make time for you! I don't have twins at home I'm running around after & keeping up with. No wonder ya need to stay up watching Treky & Voyager.

Anyhoo,Topa reduces the physical cravings big time, just like in 07-08 for me too!. Plus it helps me with energy, motivation. I rarely feel depressed. I feel lucky that a low dose helps me so much & little SE's. They go away after being on it.

My GF & Hubs do lots of forgetful things. They like to remind me it happens to everyone.

Extended fam is off at park. I told them I needed to connect with my alkie friends for a bit! I really do need this daily connection, it really does help! Not good to isolate.

                      Have a good day! :l

I do know several people who took the topamax and got really messed up. The reason you don't see threads on it....is that they left MWO. I think it may be a good drug if you don't have a lot of responsiblities....but, just from what I read in the book I knew it was not for me.

Try taking Piracetam. It helped a lot of people with baclofen induced fogginess, maybe it will do the same for topa?

I believe alot of people have left MWO for a variety of reasons. This place use to be hoppin! There is a Topamax thread on the Meds board & I have found alot of helpful info searching the archives.

The few who currently post on that thread now, have many responsibilities! One is an RN, Busy Florist Owner, Mgr of Bookstore, Medical Translator & I thinks she also does Medical Transcribing, or something close to this.

The SE's are mild for most & go away after ea tiration up. This takes time. Many people give up before. Yet, no drug is right for everyone! This drug has been around for many years. Migraine, epileptic. Just approved with one other drug for a diet pill. Let alone off lable uses. There are many.... clinical trials & studies not only in the USA, but globally.

I take one of the lowest doses & contribute it as my main success to halting cravings & helping me live an AF life. I & my family never want to see me stop taking it like I did in 07-08. If I do, I'm fairly certain I will continue to have slips & relapses. Back in 07-08 was the longest I'd been able to stay sober, since my alcoholism progressed, which was almost 8 months. It helps my brain, Gaba-B & L-Glut. I don't even crave sugar & carbs like I use to. Lost 10lbs, have more energy, feel happier.

Tho I do admit to sometimes having a loss of word or two, but this could be from other things, ie being an alkie now in recovery, Graves disease, my age, certain days of being overtired & over stressed.

Thanks for this info. I may discuss this one with my Dr. I currently only take Topa, but I know with more AF time I will experience PAWS. Have before & they aren't nice. I also know someone who may benefit from this med.

Kradle, yes it's the topa. As sober guest said, Roberta Jewell experienced this too. She would get lost going home, etc. For myself I used antabuse so I knew there were serious consequences, and it led to sober weeks and then months. If I ever feel wobbly, I take it again.

                                Keep reporting, my friend.
