One Step at a Time - July 2012
Hello friends,
Another beautiful AF day in paradise. One of the blessings of my job is that I can occasionally leave early, using an hour of vacation time to do so. I did that today, since the weather is as good as it is going to get. Back to the 90's tomorrow.
We are on our third dog, meaning we have put down two due to age and infirmities. It is heartbreaking, they are such good family members.
I do trim my dog's nails, though not frequently enough because she hates it, and then so do I. I got a really good clipper from Amazon with a guard, so I can't cut off too much. The secret is to cut off a little, but frequently.
Lexi, I'm glad to see your post, congrats of your first week! When I don't hear from someone for a couple of days, I usually assume they aren't doing well. It is great to be too busy to post, and sometimes posting makes you think more about drinking. But that thinking is how we learn to fight, so it is good you are here, perhaps reading if not posting. There is so much to learn, so many myths to dispell, a long road perhaps before you find your own path.
Des, I'm familiar with Long Island. MIL used to live there until we moved her closer, into assisted living. Hubby went to high school there, but then left for college, never to return. Parts are beautiful, but oh the traffic to get there! North Carolina is much nicer, we have visited there, the mountains as well as the Outer Banks.
I bought 10 pints of blueberries from New Jersey at the cheapo supermarket today, they were in pretty good condition, at a great price. I usually go picking in late July, but I can no longer pick enough to last me through the year since I eat them nearly every morning. They are very easy to freeze in zip lock bags, after rinsing them well in a colander, and drying them on a towel so they don't stick together. I could probably afford to buy already frozen ones, but I enjoy doing this. And of course they taste better.
until soon...My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

Hey MB, it is soooo good to be here and posting all of this. It's a little like my initial af high, but less intense, more real feeling. My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

yep...sober is good
I am going on vacation next week and thought briefly about AL. But I will at the family lake house most of the week and I don't think it will an issue.
If I was going on a REAL vacation, I wouldn't be so sure.
But we are painting the lake house for our 80 plus year old in laws, so it won't be party time.I love my family more than alcohol.:h

Sure, I'll be right there!
No, wait. It's HOT in Florida now, no thanks.
I won't be drinking on any vacation. Like the Christmas scene I mentioned, I would keep it under control just fine during the vacation. But getting the alcohol back in my system would just push off the roller coaster again. No thanks. But as I've mentioed, I've been working on this for a long time to get to this point. My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12.
