Can't believe how well the Brits are doing but I'll just go with the flow.

Useless Olympic fact of the day. There's a heavyweight male judo player that weighs only 6lbs more than the entire Japanese swimming team.

Ooh if I carry on not smoking I'll be able to afford a hollingday in Crete.

Yep, went there with my sister - I was 20 and she was 18. Backpacking around Europe but we got stuck in a small town on the southern coast of Crete cause I met Mr. Stirly and the rest is history. Unfortunately, the town has changed very much since then. I've seen pictures and I didn't recognize the waterfront part of the town at all. And it's much more commercial than it was back then. :upset:

That is really gross about that Japanese judo dude. I'm not gonna goggle him, that's for sure.

Wow, China and the US are really neck to neck for the medals. Canada has a mere 9 and as I said before, Greece is even worse with only 2 bronze. Mind you there has been very little interest or money for our athletes the past few years. Even two of our top soccer teams are in such financial straights that they've been downgraded to second and third categories due to the amount of money they owe. And soccer is the national sport here.

X-post Pingu-pants. As I said above - Greece is not doing well at all due to lack of money for training and equipment. The pole-vaulter that was interviewed earlier today said she was given 1500 euro for her training. Feck, that wouldn't even cover her transportation costs back and forth to the training area. Damn economy and damn politicians. Enough of that.

Pingu - hope you get a good night's sleep. Don't let the kids wear you out. Let them wear out their Dad instead.
