Cashy, I didn't mean passed around by providers, I meant shared among insurance companies. They don't share all the details, but do share (and have for almost 20 years) diagnoses, proceedures, etc. It's done by ICD and CPT codes.

      Hi Dexter,
Glad to see you back! I have been 100% honest with my doctor, it's the only way I've been able to have any success with getting and staying sober (meds, etc.). Last year I changed Insurance providers and requested my records so I could take them to my new doctor, and yep, it was ALL there. Basically I've only been in due to "alcohol related issues"...I'm not concerned though. It's never affected me negatively. I see it this way: getting the help I needed and getting healthy is worth more than any job it could potentially affect, it's a risk I am willing to take.

Please let us know how it goes with the doctor. And stick close so we know how you're doing!

thanks all. I just got back. I was fairly honest with the doc. My blood pressure is very high. Had blood work done and worried sick about the results.

Good luck, Dexter. Hope the results aren't bad, but regardless of the results you've stepped up and taken action to address whatever Al may have damaged. Keep us informed, please!

K9, if the insurance co, or providers ever disclose that information to a potential employer you have an easy win lawsuit. That's a serious HIPAA violation.

Maybe - but they do not charge more based on pre-existing conditions here they are not allowed to by law...they have waiting periods. Also our private insurance is paid for by individuals, NOT companies - your employer does not have any access to that kind of info unless it comes up at a medical check specifically - that's the difference here. Because business, big or small, is not connected to the insurance system the level of information employers have is zip unless you provide that information. Insurance companies can't share your info unless you change insurance providers. I have probably had over 300,000 bucks worth of surgery in the last 10 years (and about 200,000 worth of private psychiatric treatment) and that's a low end estimate - I do not pay a cent more for insurance than anyone else, I have gone through waiting periods and even if i change companies right now they cant even make me wait cause I've had full hospital cover from age 30 - that's how it works here
And I know what you are talking about my partner is a systems architect He writes similar software!

Well done dexter - if they find stuff then you'll have a better idea of what you need to change it could be quite liberating, stay calm. Cashy xx
