Always stick around with something bad !

    Hi all,

This thread is just for a discussion and sharing to understand the mind patterns .

I am just curious to know whether everyone is always busy to think about either matter of the life from the wake up to until sleeping ??

I always go deeply with the thoughts mainly to regret past and worry about the future but hardly provide time to enjoy the present.I hardly used my time for creative works .Does it apply to other too ?

My question here is , do you also keep your mind busy all the times from your wake up to sleeping time ?
Really curious to know about !!
    Thanks for sharing.

Always stick around with something bad !

Since I stopped drinking, my thinking has changed completely. I used to spend my time worrying about and regretting my mistakes. Now I really try to live in the present, and if I focus on it I can achieve it. I still make future plans and at times regret my past behaviour, but now I try to make ammends for past mistakes just by staying sober, my family seem to appreciate this. At the moment I just take each day and try to enjoy everything it brings. I am enjoying my grandchildren and see them in an entirely different light, which when blurred by alcohol was impossible. Yes I am enjoying life and every moment it brings. My life before seemed like it was in black and white now it is in colour.

It's amazing how quickly the thinking changes. I, like Paula spent the first weeks of sobriety ruminating and it was very painful. I have since let go and really do my best to be in the present at all times. Many things I would worry about for the future never happen.

I am laughing more - I was too riddled with anxiety for days after bingeing to really enjoy life. And I am seeing the beauty in everything and my confidence is returning.

        Hi Paula and Itsmytime,

You have given some wonderful feed back here but my concern is a little bit different.I want to know the psychological factors relating to the mind game or say its function .
So do you keep your mind busy at all the times thinking of any bad or good stuffs ?
Or your mind take a rest for a while or and starts thinking deeply again with the interval of time ?
Hope you will understand me .

          mind game

          Hi Dixon,
In my experience, the mind game happens because you don't want to accept a reality around you. So it's better to have a compulsion. And then you get older and the compulsion becomes the problem.

Best thing is to disregard all thoughts. unless they are positive.
Thoughts are not reality. Never were.

Since I learned that I can control my thoughts, I do my best to keep my focus on happiness and healthfulness in the present moment. Obviously this isn't always possible, but I have really gotten to the point where I don't stress out on things that might or might not occur in the future and I don't stress out on things I did in the past. This is a new way of thinking for me that has completely changed my life.

For the longest time, in fact for as far back as I can remember, I have always hated Sundays, the reason being is the weekend was ending and I hated thinking about Monday. I ruined every beautiful Sunday my entire adult life because I stressed out about Monday. Well the reality was Mondays were never really that bad, yet I basically threw one day a week away for 27 years and ruined it with stress. I'm not sure that will make any sense to anyone, but for me it was a real fear for a long time. Then since being sober and changing my focus...because I didn't realize why I hated Sundays so much, I was able to realize that Sunday is just another great day to be alive...and I got a stress free day in my life back. I truly believe we create our own depression and our own problems by focusing on things we can't control and allowing those thoughts and perceptions to permeate our realities, which in turn can ruin our piece of mind and really bring us down...which in turn gives us excuses to look for ways to alter our minds with chemicals. That realization alone has completely changed my level of happiness ten fold.

Being introspective can be good at times, but in my experience it can also be harmful if you are looking inwards too much. Distraction can be really good for you too. You can't change the past and you can't predict the future, so living for now can be so much less tiring than thinking too much about things.

                1. As highlighted in red , how did you been able to think with a new way ?? .Any specific idea please.
2..I agree with you and everyone might do ,neither we can bring up the past at the present nor know about the future in advance ? . So the question here is the way out .Have you used any model technique to over come these issues ?, although there are plenty available in the markets.

Still I haven't got my questions answer here.My question to everyone is --do you keep your mind always busy to think something either it is good or bag ?? .Or,you sometimes or most of the time keep it standstill ??
Sorry to bothering you all .I am really happy to knowing so many things here but still not satisfied what I am looking for specific one ?
OMG, I am really complicated and very sensitive guy !!

Always stick around with something bad !

I recently read a book, Stop thinking start living, by Richard Carlson, who claims to be able to eliminate depression, just by deciding to stop thinking and dwelling on thoughts. My niece recommended the book to me as she had been through a nasty divorce, she said it completely changed her way of thinking and got rid of her depression. I found the book very goodand I'm trying to follow it's phillosophy.

I learned how to do most of this through my training in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), and alot of self introspection through the last 2 years. If you would like more info feel free to PM me.

As far as your question, I am not sure I completely understand it. I try to keep my mind very focused on whatever task I am doing in the moment. Then many times a day I quiet my brain and let it sit idle when I meditate, then I go back to focusing on a task or goal I have in mind....I also have made an effort to really let my thoughts focus on listening when I am speaking with others and learning from each experience. If I still didn't answer the question please try to pose it differently.

One more question, have you practiced NLP yourself or with a professional ?.I am trying myself now. Though I have known this technique from the very beginning and made several attempts but never got success because of AL's intervention.
