    Army Thread 26th August 2012

    Yooo hoo Reccybear,

Have to say I had a wee smile to meself there. I'm talking about baking and you've posted about the correlation between shootings and the stock market. Absolutely poles apart.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

You can't say the Army's not full of diversity.
We've gone from flame throwing aphids via baking a cake and all the way to guns.

That's true, jackie. I was about to say that it illustrates how indiscriminate alcoholism is, the way it affects such different personalities.

Hi again i had to go to frigin Tesco again as i needed cat litter bread and a couple of things. Not long back. Guess what i bought on special offer? A dahlia plant for 4euro lol its a tall one with a lovely pink flower i'll plant it tomorrow when i cut the grass. Thanks for posting the article on Marian Keyes Jc. I love most of her books very witty with stong females and serious subjuects in a kinda funny way. I was at an AA meeting one friday bout 2 3 wks and she was there. I have seen her since i started AA 4 yrs ago. She battled an al problem also and i think is sober a long time. She isn't very fat as she says in the post maybe she lost weight as that was written back in January she looked nice and slim and very attractive with nice dress and makeup. Not going to Tall ships too tired and not up to a trip in to the city. Just chilling. Looking forward to more piglet pics Reccie well done so far.:goodjob:

                :hallo: again

I bear good news this time: my parents have had an offfer on their house which they've accepted. My mom has signed the sales contract and I'll email it to the lawyers tomorrow. It means she can finally start making definite plans for the future. It also gives me a fixed timeline to work with, which is a huge relief: the uncertainty and "indefiniteness" was driving me nuts.

That's excellent, tips. Will she be buying a home of her own or moving into an old folks home?

                      Hiya Reccie

We've narrowed it down to two options: renting a "normal" 1-bedroom apartment, or renting a 1-bedroom unit adjacent to the old age home she eventually wants to move into (there is a waiting list at the moment).

She doesn't want to be far from us, even if it means she'll be spending the bulk of her pension on accommodation. The 1st option will be much cheaper, but it depends on whether I can find a unit in a block that isn't already mainly occupied by students. I'll speak to a few rental agencies. There are units available for immediate occupation at the 2nd place although it is quite pricey BUT includes 24-hour medical response and weekday lunches.
                      I'll do whatever it takes

                            eeky: Anyone around?

:waving: to anyone who might be :sofa:

Tipster, the second option might be more expensive but I like the 24-hour medical response. Does that mean she will have a buzzer if she needs help or people drop by daily to see if she's okay? Just wondering what it entails. The week-day lunches are a good part of the plan as well. You'll know that she's getting decent food and she will be more inclined to eat if the food is cooked and ready to eat. Older people living alone tend to neglect their nutrition because they can't be bothered cooking for one person or they don't feel inspired to make anything decent and either eat just biscuits and such or don't eat at all. And having food taken to her home or your Ma going to the dining facilities at the seniors' home is also a way that people will be checking on her on a daily basis. Not that you and Mrs. T won't be but you know what I mean. I was very uneasy the last couple of years that my Mother-In-Law lived on her own. We dropped by every other day and I called her every day but it was the hours in between that I wondered if she was okay or had fallen or anything. I hope you can get things straightened out soon and you can all have some peace of mind as far as her accommodations are concerned. :huggy

Ooh Tippers, good news indeed. Like the 2nd option very much.

Or there's the 3rd option. Renting somewhere bigger and hiring a certain Geordie lady and her black Lab. Don't worry about her talking too much she'd be begging for mercy after a week with me but I'm a canny cook.

Whatdya get for yer birthday Stirls?
