okay, for all the others who wanted info on e-readers, this is the stuff I sent Bridge from Mr B:

Ok, the most books are available at Free Books : Download & Streaming : Ebook and Texts Archive : Internet Archive - the Project Gutenberg section has public domain classics and creative commons free books, lots of other material on there. iBooks and Amazon Kindle library have lots of current best sellers and the like, you can read iBook format books (epub and epub+) on ipads, iphone or ipod touches and Kindle books (mobi format) on the various Amazon Kindles - Kindles will read epubs too, iPads (and the other Apple gear) can read Kindle books using a Kindle app. The iPad is more versatile (much larger selection of apps, good ones are GoodReader, Readdle Docs) which can handle pdf files and many other book formats.

A public domain program called calibre is useful for organizing a library of e-books on your computer, and then syncing them to your reading tablet. iTunes can also be used like that, but it is a bit clumsy. I use both, have over 6000 books in my calibre library.

epubs are the nicest formatted in my view. Calibre will also convert e-books between formats.

As for her mum - this article is a great read http://behindthecurtain.us/2010/06/1...th-the-iphone/ - much the same applies to the iPad
There are tons of free audio books on a website called Librivox, there are a lot on sites on the internet too, both commercial (pirated) and specific reading for the blind copies. I can provide a referral to a site or two, if that is desirable.

just an extra note - both iPad and Kindle have built in wifi - both Apple and Amazon have an extensive library of free books,

On a personal note, while I love my i-pad, I do find the glare off the screen a little bit much when I'm outside, but then I'd prefer to have a physical book in my hand anyway!!

And I cant remember whether I have said or not, but over the last week or so, I have started to question whether or not I really want to sell the house, for a whole lot of reasons. To cut a long story short, we decided over the weekend that we definitely won't sell, and will need to find some other way of digging Mr B out of the hole that he is in. Like buying Lotto tickets!!

                    Morning all,

Can Mr B busk? But seriously, he has some prowess in certain area's doesn't he? Like I.T? All the best with everything Missy. Thoughts are with you.

Wonder what adventures the Jones girl will get up to today, and indeed, everyone else. I for one am in fine fettle, with nothing, yes nothing to complain about. How can i? I have my sobriety, and everything good in my life flows from this.

Think positive Roo's, and just get out there and make some magic.

                    Ooroo.

You know I've just been thinking about your eyes Missy.
We just don't know nearly enough about them, I've decided. Eyes I mean.
To see how the loss of sight has impacted my mother, you'd have to conclude that it's the worst sense to lose. Completely debilitating. And yet we are so limited in terms of how to fix blindness. Just pondering.

                            Gooood moorrrnnninnnngggg!!!

A gorgie, crisp and bright morning here at postcode 2151. I took little Dharmsie to the park this morning and there was a spring in my step, and an extra roll in the grass by her. How fantabulous is it to wake up without that foul taste in your mouth, the head pounds and the shakes? How fantabulous!!!?? I'm loving being my sober self sick right now!!!!

Bridge has Spring fever me thinks. Good to see!

I think Tawny has been getting her driveway sorted, 'cos Spring is in the air and she wants OUT!

Lilly, you're such a sweetie. Hubs is a lucky chappy - two tim tams when he gets home from work. That's nice. FH makes me a cup of tea and I make him a scotch. It's these little things that make a difference.

Missy, we made an amazing profit on the apartment BUT it all gets gobbled up at the buying end (of course) because the market is sooo different from when we bought a hundred years ago! FH has his eye on a place so we went for a second look yesterday. It's ok but I really think we can do better with our money. He is absolutely frothing about it because of the location. I agree to a certain point, but it does need a bit of work. I was hoping we would walk into something quite swish and not be doing renos, but he seems to now have another plan. Yesterday he was moving garage walls, extending this way and that and all I could see was the $$ ticking over at speedy rate. We aren't chickens anymore and all the things planned will add value of course, but I just want to enjoy things now. Not 'cope' without a kitchen or have the contents of our lovely big garage now, scattered wherever because the garage in this place is way too small for both of our cars let alone his bloke stuff. I made my list and honestly there are more cons than pros but he has it firmly in his sights. I'm actually a bit upset about it, now that I've written it here....... This isn't going down the path we originally agreed we were looking at going down. I'm now thinking (now that I've got the apartment totally sorted) that there is no place like home.... Oh well, we shall see. I'm sending $$ vibes to the Universe for you!!!!

                            Salute to Mr G!

Hugs to Cori, Reggie, Ronnie (there is a punnet of strawberries on the bench for your little lunch), Sunny and our little man Leon, Haps, Aspy, Tipps, Nora, Satz and anyone else who needs hugs!! :l

Just realised, I haven't seen Techie for a minute or two.......and, again, where's Tawny????

Have a great day everyone. Loves yous orl :h
It is not what we do, but how much love we put into the doing.

AND, remember Tawny did get that cryptic message..... It really could have been a fortune and she's done the harold holt (bolt)........... I hope not, I'd miss her terribly :upset:
